Sacrifice myself for world peace?

Reading the details of this prompt, I immediately started thinking of funny ways to answer the question; will you sacrifice yourself to end world suffering? My short answer is no 😩 I'm not looking to be the next Jesus, I'm going to keep it real and not try to pretend like I'm considering doing something like that if the opportunity presents itself (should I even call it an opportunity?). Yes, it's selfish and I always think of two things before making any decision: Will I benefit from this? If not, will it bring harm to me? Sometimes I do something regardless of whether it brings any benefit to me because I see no harm in doing it,

But in this case, I would be dead just for the rest of the world to enjoy and knowing myself really well, I love life too much and would rather hold on to it as much as I can. It's easy to say yes to a question like this without thinking much about it because it's just an imagination but will you stay true to that decision if it actually happens for real? Even in my imagination, I won't sacrifice myself for the world to enjoy 😅 I don't owe the world anything, we didn't come to this life together and everyone has their own race to run, so I don't see why I need to sacrifice myself for someone else.

It's funny when you realize that something like this actually happens in the world today but for the very wrong reasons. We are talking about sacrificing oneself for the rest of the world to live happily but there's something similar albeit quite diabolical that's happening in the world today, I'm talking about suicide bombing. The people that carry out these acts are either promised a great reward in the afterlife (I wonder how that works) or they are told that their families would be given a very large sum of money, and in some very rare cases, they are promised both (let it not look like they go off to enjoy in the afterlife while their family languish in poverty).

But the crazy thing is that these people actually accept such an offer and I wonder what pushes them to do so; they are tired of life and are already suicidal or the offer is just too good to give up? I wonder if such people will do the same if they are told that their sacrifice will end all suffering in the world, or maybe aside from the promised reward, they have a personal grudge against the victims of their attack. Anyway, the world looks like it's getting worse every day and it seems like there is no end to all the suffering, someone even joked on Twitter recently that Jesus will refuse to die for this world if asked to do so again.

I wonder how the sacrifice is going to be: will I be crucified or just die quietly in my sleep? Or maybe a burnt offering like in the Old Testament of the Bible? No matter how it will be done, I'm not okay with so, and thinking about how the corrupt politicians we have in Nigeria and all over the world will benefit from my sacrifice is another strong reason why I won't ever do that. Those guys and every other corrupt individuals and corporations are part of the reasons why the world is messed up today. Sacrificing myself would mean they will be enjoying the benefits that come with it and will get to live longer, I mean that's what it means for all diseases to end.

I think there's something we are not even thinking about; if sacrificing myself would lead to the end of poverty does this mean that everyone will be on the same level as the richest man in the world? Would it mean that everyone will have the same amount of money? Will money even still exist? The existence of money would mean that someone will definitely have more than others, and that's what created this concept of the rich and the poor in the first place; some set of people having more money than others. There's a movie I watched where one guy had the power to do anything in the world (I have forgotten the name) and he tried to make the world perfect but it backfired.

The way I see it, this world will never be perfect. There will always be the rich and the poor, and I fail to see how that will go away unless God just pushes a big reset button and everybody starts afresh (probably as babies). But if the sacrifice required for that to happen is my life, then I rather continue living in the world the way it is, because I see no benefit in sacrificing myself for the rest of the world. In the end, I will always choose myself first, then my family, and friends, before the rest of the world. And yes, it's selfish but I would rather be selfish than not exist in this world anymore
