The holiday is for my family

I have fond memories of Christmas and New Year holidays. When I was growing up with my parents, we used to travel to our hometown annually for this holiday. I wasn't born at my hometown, and as a result, they made it a duty to take my siblings and me home every year. Our cousins would come from their various places of abode to join and have fun throughout the holiday. When the holiday is over in January, I would be moved to tears as the day we would be going back to our base approached.

This was a tradition that I loved and hoped to adopt when I started to raise my family. Unfortunately, things have changed over the years. Apart from the fact that I live farther away from home, the numerous growth plans that I need to actualize are making traveling to my hometown every year unrealistic.

This year is one of those years that I won't be traveling home for the yuletide season. This year has dealt lots of blows to people's plans, including mine. I started this year with the plan of traveling with my family to celebrate the Christmas holiday with our extended family. However, much rain has fallen, which was absorbed by the earth. The economy was behaving in a way that can be likened to shifting a goal post when one is in the best position to score a goal. But then, I give glory to Almighty God for being alive to witness the holiday.

My plan for this holiday is short and simple: I want to enjoy it with my family. Today was my last day at work for the year. The next thing that will take me back to the office before Christmas is to go and pick up my Christmas package. The Nigerian Defence Academy has the culture of giving all members of staff Christmas packages. It has been announced that we will soon be called to come and pick the packages.

My wife, son, and I plan to have a good time together during this holiday. It has been work, work, and work during the course of the year. It is time to appraise the year in love, refresh, and prepare for the upcoming year. I may still be engaged slightly in online activities, but I will make sure that such engagement is of second priority during the holiday. My main priority is eating whatever I like and sleeping like never before.

On Christmas day, there is a plan to visit my Christian colleagues. I also have the plan to take my family out to visit unique places for as many times as possible. We already have the lineup of places to visit and have fun.

The most awaited day during this holiday is December 29th, my wife's birthday. She deserved to be celebrated, and I hope to celebrate her in a special way that day. The day will also be the third anniversary of our wedding. It is a two-in-one celebration for us that day. It has been a journey of steady progress in our marriage. We need to renew our vow, especially while we plan our way through the upcoming year.

One thing that I am intentional about is bonding with my family like never before during this holiday. It's a holiday of fun and family bonding for me.

We make plans but God has the final say. The economy this year wasn't funny but God has been faithful.

I am glad you are still going to make the season beautiful by celebrating with your family in a unique way.

Happy birthday to your wife in advance, reserve my cake Sha🥰

Thank you brother. May the coming year bring us good tidings.
