Forgetting is natural, remembering is an art.

This is a publication based on the suggested topic proposed in the Hive Learners community through their discord, which on this occasion is "Why So Forgetful?".

I will distribute 3% of the rewards obtained in this post, among the best comments, who will receive a tip when the rewards are collected.

We are all human beings, and at some point in our lives, it will happen that we forget something.

These involuntary forgetfulness episodes can be a matter of great care, depending on what was forgotten and how important it is. But it is natural and common for this to happen; it's not something so serious that it can't be fixed.

Today, I want to talk about this topic that I find very interesting.

I'll mention two episodes that have happened to me. The first episode is that I've had a purpose for a while to practice a musical instrument.

As a music lover, it always seemed very beautiful to be able to practice an instrument. I started my goal by learning to play the guitar some time ago, and I have basically succeeded in playing one melody: "Zombie" by The Cranberries.

However, I haven't continued learning, not because I forgot, but because my main interest is in learning to play the flute.

Years ago, I made my first attempt with a well-known flute teacher who lives in the same building as I do.

The very kind gentleman started giving me lessons, but then I found it very difficult, so I stopped attending.

Recently, about two weeks ago, I met the teacher on the ground floor of the building. He is very old and is under the care of a nurse. He is a very pleasant old man and proposed that I take up flute lessons again.

He even offered me the opportunity to learn with him for free, so I wouldn't have to pay for the lessons; he just wants me to really learn to play the flute.

He asked me if I wanted to learn to play the flute by reading sheet music or if I just wanted to learn to play songs.

I told him that this time, I just wanted to learn songs, and we arranged a day and time once a week to do it.

But guess what? I completely forgot when the agreed day came, which was Thursdays at 10 a.m., to go to his apartment and learn to play the flute.

It completely slipped my mind because I was busy with other things, creating content, and got distracted at home.

Now, I have it scheduled in my Google Calendar because that is the measure I took to avoid forgetting this.

I noted it in the Google Calendar so I get a notification on my phone. But I am still considering it because I am very comfortable at home on Thursday mornings, and having this new responsibility of having to get dressed and go to the teacher's house is not something I precisely like because I am a person who enjoys being at home.

But I am considering it, and in this way, I haven't forgotten.

I'm mentioning this because right now, today Friday, I am seeing the notification at this time of the morning that I was supposed to go to the flute lesson yesterday.

So, I had that little forgetfulness because it is a plan I have to learn to play the recorder. I think it's something very beautiful and relaxing.

Now, I'll tell you about another incident that happened a long time ago.

As a good movie fanatic, there are movies I really enjoy watching, especially mystery and horror movies; they are my passion.

I am a great follower of Alfred Hitchcock, and I remember that day I was watching "Rear Window" by Alfred Hitchcock, which I have seen many times. It is a fascinating movie.

Well, I was entertained and decided to cook something in the kitchen. I left rice cooking, I believe, and started watching the Alfred Hitchcock movie. And guess what? I forgot what was in the kitchen and fell asleep.

Not only did I forget, but I also fell deeply asleep and woke up when I heard the neighbors knocking on the door anxiously because there was a large cloud of smoke.

Obviously, the rice was burning in the kitchen, and the neighbors thought there was a fire in my home.

Fortunately, nothing major happened, but it was a big scare for me and the neighbors.

So, it made me take the measure of not cooking while watching TV because I can forget things.

When I'm watching TV and need to cook, the measure I took to solve this is to set an alarm on my phone.

This way, I know that when the alarm sounds on the phone, I have to go check the kitchen immediately to avoid these types of incidents.

So, it's very important in certain events not to forget things because it can put your life and the lives of other neighbors at risk. Although it's normal for it to happen, there are different levels in which one must be careful about this type of forgetfulness.

I hope you don't forget things and take precautions to ensure this, and that this teaches you other aspects that need attention and from which we can learn.

@manclar, I paid out 0.213 HIVE and 0.070 HBD to reward 2 comments in this discussion thread.

You sound so funny though, learning a skill especially as an adult is not so easy because it needs lots of dedication and sacrifice owing to the fact that you find the day so relaxing and more.

Just try to learn or you can reschedule the time. I love music too but learning an instrument is not going to be easy for me at this time

Yes, when I think about all the time and sacrifice I have to put into learning that new skill, the truth is that I lose my desire hahaha. I have to think about it really well, I think in the end I won't do it hahaha.

Google Calendar does help in putting myself together and always notifies me of some events that I need to attend to, I hope the man was not offended.

I hope that the professor has not been offended, I think that since he suffers from Alzheimer's, he has probably forgotten that.

That's how I do mine too, whatever am supposed to do , I put it in a reminder so I won't forget it.

I believe that disciplining memory is possible depending on the person. There are times when you have carelessness due to lack of attention or simply because there is no concentration at the moment, the mind tends to wander, it is something of the unconscious.
Many times I get distracted and forget what I was doing in the short term, so I just try to focus on at least 2 or 3 things at a time.
Because it would be a pity for me to turn to the phone for anything and one day I forget where I left my phone.
