2 Years On Hive
Who would've thought I will be here for two years and still posting with no intention whatsoever of making quick bucks!
When I joined the Hive blockchain, my goal was simple: write as much as you can, earn as much as you can.
I joined Hive at a time when the income generating micro blogging platform that I frequented back then was lagging. New innovations were introduced and coupled with the massive lull of the bitcoin cash, making a few bucks from the site became a serious task. I needed a replacement and that was when I stumbled upon the Hive blockchain.
True to form, I set about my task with the sole aim of making quick bucks, leading to mixed results. I had some posts where I was well upvoted, and I had a couple weeks where my posts generated nothing. Due to my desperation, I didn't take the time to learn about the blockchain, I just wanted so badly to write and earn from it. I was frustrated.
The good thing that came out of the fluctuating results was that I was forced to change my goals. There were times when I sat down to write quality posts and was expecting decent upvotes only to get nothing. And there were posts that were rushed and not well edited and I was expecting nothing, only to bank as much as 800+ upvotes. It was a puzzle how the system worked and I stopped having expectations from then onwards.
So why am I still here if my initial intention of making extra income is not being regularly fulfilled?
I realized the blockchain is more than just a faceless forum. With a lot of the communities having Discord channels, relationships were forged. I wanted to learn more, to know more. Reading about people's true stories and not some fabricated bullshit just to gather upvotes got to me. I realized this place can be more than a blogging site; it can be an online family. A family I wish to be part of. That changed everything.
It's been two years as a member of the Hive family. I am happy and proud to be here. Though I have not been consistent or regular, I am happy with my contributions.
Do I want to improve on my contributions?
Definitely, that's the goal.
Have I improved since I got here?
Hell, yeah, I've gotten better as a writer and a person. I can easily call myself a writer of some sort because of the about 200 posts I have written on Hive. That counts for something. It definitely does!
