Humanitarian By Birth

I would say, I've been a volunteer worker since conception. My Mom is a teacher who had worked in Missionary schools though she's now at the tail end of her service years. She has been in the teaching profession before I was born. I can proudly say I'm a lady born and bred within the wall of a classroom, so most times Mom takes children of less privileged parents free of charge in extra classes.

And once Mom leaves home every weekend for her extra classes, myself and my siblings followed her without having a choice. Those times we don't like it but who dares tell an African Mother that you are not following when she ordered you to follow her. So whether we like it or not, I and my siblings are her assistant teachers who help her out with one or two pupils.

This singular act of hers makes us study well so that we won't fumble in class because once Mom asks her pupils questions and they don't know it, she will direct it to us.

When a whole teacher's daughter or son doesn't know a thing, how did you expect other pupils to know that particular thing, so it's like it's a must to read ahead so that you won't be caught unaware.

Also once Mom is done with her class, she will go straight to the Sanctuary cleaners that are cleaning the Church Premises, myself and siblings will surely join her as well. So right from childhood, I've been involved in volunteering service till the present moment.

Those times when I do follow my Mom I always felt uncomfortable because my inner being is always grumbling that she didn't allow us to enjoy our weekends but I never knew she was preparing me ahead. Her influence had really helped me to know how to serve others selflessly, study people's mood and attends to their needs.

Presently, I'm in the teaching profession and I find it so convenient to help others solve their problems. I've tutored a group of secondary students Mathematics without collecting a dim from their parents all because I just want them to have an interest in the subject.

Last week, I noticed one of my Pupils wasn't cheerful in class like before, this girl loves mathematics and always looks forward to solving maths. But that particular morning, she wasn't herself at all, when I inquired from her friends, I was told she mistakenly kicked her food flask and the whole food poured away so that demoralized her.

I thank the girl I got the information from and just went to the corner she sat and whispered in her ear that once it break time, she should come to my table and collect money to buy food from the food vendor. Immediately her worries were gone and she became cheerful, I could see the excitement on her face and I smiled.

Throughout that day till the following day, she keeps saying Mistress thank you, I was just happy I could be of help to the girl, doing that gives me so much joy and I don't mind repeating such an act for another pupil

I've learnt from childhood that helping others pays and I can't but do it because it has become part of me. So at any opportunity I have, I try to do something for others to put a smile on their face.

Life is too big to live by oneself, it's very good to live for others and impact their lives positively.

This is my entry to HL week 152 edition 1 prompt . Thanks for visiting my blog, do have a pleasant week

God bless you for this kind act

Amen, thanks for visiting sis

Cares of volunteering has no measure especially if we are tired in the mist of those that needs it.

You really took every act if volunteering from your mom. You need to be proud 🥲 of yourself.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes ooo I'm very proud. Though years back it was like a burden but now, it's a lifestyle that I can't do without

Nice one. Everything we do with peace of heart turns into a lifestyle.

Enjoy your week 🥰💕

Yes that's true. Thanks for visiting

🥰💕

Your mother gave you a good legacy, I know of a woman who will never allow her children to contribute to anything in the community and this was the beginning of their setbacks, your mother is truly a good one by encouraging you to give back to the community through dedication and letting others to share in your knowledge.

Yes she really tried and I can't but thank her daily for the good legacy

That's exactly what my late grandma taught all of us. I come from a Christian home, and both my late grandma and grandpa were pastors. Though I never met my grandpa, I knew my grandma well.

Whenever the church announced that they needed volunteers to clean, my brother, cousins, and I—though still young—were always made available by my grandma. At the time, we thought she was doing it intentionally, but as we grew older, we realized she was trying to instill good values in us.

Now, whenever I see a need, I'm always ready to help because that's how I was raised. I also never expect any rewards from people when I help because I know my Father in heaven will surely reward me.

Hmmmm those oldies are the real MVP. They taught by example and I love it
