Right from the creation of the world, everything has been either high or low so also is wealth. In a country, there are the rich and the poor, for as long as human being can remember both the rich and poor had been in existence and there is absolutely nothing whatsoever that we can do about it.
Some people strive so hard to earn the little they need for survival while some don't need to work so hard because they have huge inheritance from their forefathers. Even the Bible says both sets of people (rich & poor) will continue to exist till the end of ages.
Though in a country like mine, the system is so corrupt that as days go by, the rich are getting richer on a daily basis while the poor are getting poorer, humanly speaking it's unfair but there is absolutely nothing to do about it.
But should there be a cap on how much a person can earn?
Personally, I believe there shouldn't be a cap on how a person can earn. Now imagine a country like Nigeria in which our system isn't functioning well and the government can't create employment opportunities for one-eighth of the citizen and Dangote the richest man who owns numerous industries in the nook and cranny of the country is placed on a yearly limit, how do you want his employees to survive?
Let's say his yearly cap is 500 million Naira and he met the cap in just 2 months from all his industries in the country, please what will he do if he makes more than the maximum earnings that was set for him? Or will he stop working and tell his workers to resume work the following year? It doesn't sound right to me at all. I prefer the way this current system where a few people can be collectively richer than the rest of the world.
I believe the disadvantages of having an earning limit on people is more than the advantages because it's the lower income earners that will suffer for it more than their employer. Wealthy people have the resources to carry out plans and they are loaded with lots of ideas and they are the ones creating opportunities for the poor through their investments even more than the government, so why would they be limited?
If there is a cap on wealth, investors won't be motivated to develop new ideas and companies will eventually crumble, because why will I innovate so many businesses when I know my profits will be limited?
Well no law for now that is preventing people from making too much money, so let's leave it like. I won't support such a system even if it means a better and more fair society.
Let investors think outside the box so as to help the growing population because the government of today doesn't have anything to offer her citizens. People like Dangote and his kind will be able to help employ others to improve their standard of living and also be able to work to secure the future of their generations.
