The popular proverb says: “Madness is an art” in reference to the diversity of forms of madness experienced by some people, in their behaviors and behaviors that contradict public logic or collective reason, or defy the laws of nature and social and moral rules.
In my opinion, the phrase can be reversed to become "arts.. madness" when it comes to artistic breakthroughs presented by some artists from different fields, in order to express an idea or achieve fame in one way or another.
What inspired me is a painting by the famous Italian artist for his satirical works Maurizio Catlan, who exhibited a painting entitled “The Comedy” at the “Art Basel” exhibition in Miami - Florida, USA, and it sold for 120 thousand US dollars.
The price of the painting is not only imaginary, but the painting itself, which largely expresses the aforementioned sentence (arts are madness)!.. the painting is a real banana affixed with adhesive tape to a wall in the exhibition, without even a frame!!
How can a banana cost $120,000?! .. This is what only the artist (creator) of the painting, Catlan, can answer.
What makes the madness even crazier, is what the Georgian-American artist David Datuna did when he ate the one hundred and twenty thousand dollar banana, justifying that he was hungry!
Of course, there was a goal behind his behavior, and fortunately for him, he was not prosecuted for devouring the expensive banana, because the goal of the banana - as indicated by the exhibition organization - is the idea and not the banana itself, because the banana does not last and will rot after days without a doubt, so What was the management of the exhibition but to replace the banana with another banana.
It seems that public taste has changed, and the axioms agreed upon on the human level have changed, until we have reached a stage of loss of values and confusion of concepts. What was previously an unacceptable social and moral defect is now subject to the views and laws of personal freedoms.
What was previously contrary to reason and logic, is now applied normally and to the eyes of witnesses! And here I return to the proverb (madness is an art) that a young British woman who got married from her carpet deserves! Unfortunately, this is a fact and not a joke, and although the idea is completely contrary to reason and human concepts, logic, the laws of nature and sociology, the relatives and friends of the young woman contributed to paying the wedding costs and gave the newlyweds (the young woman and the carpet) various gifts, most of which were tools and cleaning products.
The art of the past is better
I am not against modern art, but I find keeping pace with the development , including art, an inevitable necessity for the development of life. They faced a lot of criticism, and then soon turned into historical icons, for example, museums around the world still enjoy their visitors to this day with the madness of Salvador Dali and his unusual paintings.
As for Vincent van Gogh, who was already suffering from a mental illness, he created one of his most beautiful paintings while in a psychiatric hospital, a painting (The Starry Night).
It is nice that food is a major subject of art, but I - like many others - admit that some delicious dishes deserve to be included in timeless works of art, especially those traditional dishes that we used to eat from the hands of our mothers and grandmothers, and I think that the Italian artist Catlan - who previously He would have made artworks crazier than a banana—aimed at communicating an idea of his painting, perhaps as ironic as the painting's title suggests: "The Comedian," but I can't explain why someone would pay an insane amount for a painting that a child in He is five years old to implement it!.. Here the buyer invents a new art of human madness!.
We do not know where modern art will take us. Will we see later artworks based fruits?... Will the hungry in the world find something to silence their stomachs through an art painting hanging on a wall?!
