Achieving A Mental Balance In Hectic Worklife

The general business of life is to make the world go around. In spite of doing all that one had to do to keep body and soul, despite the tight schedules and hectic work one engages in, I do not joke with my mental health. Recently, I have deduced that most young people get bored about their route because they mostly live a triangular life which makes them live that style on a daily basis and having no time to see the other side of life.

As a busy person, I don't observe out of life pleasure or leisure. My life was tied to my job until the worst happened. I was asked to leave the job I have come to love and cherish. It was a bitter experience but I swallowed the hook, line and sinker. For just two weeks, for the first time in my post graduate life, I didn't have a job I could call my own. Those weeks were not used for job hunting but to try out what I could do by myself without having to apply or seek another job. And what I discovered was mind-blowing.

I came to realise for those two weeks that there was more I could do to gain my mental balance in those toxic days.
First, since I do not need to hurry out of the house in the bid to resume at the office for a stipulated time, I slept most of the period of early mornings and when I wake up, I would just take a walk to the nearby flowing stream where some natives are engaged in fishing catfish and tilapia. Trust me, it was a beautiful site.

It was here that learned how to bait a hook and throw into the river and how to draw out the fish. It was another experience all together. My first day as a private fisherman and a novice was quite productive as I was able to catch quite a number of catfish and Tilapia. I made fresh fish stew with some of my catch and roasted the remaining.

On the thirteenth day out of the job, I got a message from one organization inviting me to resume at an office in the heart of Lagos. The offer came with a mouthwatering salary and other benefits. I quickly jumped on it but it was just for a month. In the second month on the new job, I got another offer in Lagos Island with an option not to be in the office on Mondays despite the heavy incentives and salary attached to it.

Every Monday

Since April of this year 2024, I haven't gone to the office on Mondays. This primarily means that I work only four days in a week. So, I have an outlined number of fun activities I do on Mondays since I do not go to work.

Exercising
My first goal is to wake up by 6:00AM and do an hour jogging on the major road to make me sweat off all toxics and burn down some calories. This has helped me alot in keeping me fit. I discovered that I was growing too plumpy for my liking and my wife was beginning to sing the praise to my face about how I could get obsessed.

Light Breakfast
I take time to prepare a light breakfast of mostly wheat bread and lipton green tea after taking a cold bath to wash away the sweat. Most times, I would sleep off on the couch while sipping from the mug. When I wake up after like an hour, I would do one or two movies till around midday.

Medical Check-up and Vegetable enable food
This is one way I get alert. I eat vegetables to help burn down belly fats. I am curious about my health tht from time to time, I check out how my entire system works. This new job brought the opportunity. The HMO arrangement with one of the top medical facilities in Lagos is why I do regular check ups.

Monday Hangout
Being the first work day of the week, most of my friends that I ought to visit are at work, so I wait till evening to go check on them with their families. But most of the time, Monday is one of those days when I get to spend enough time with my children. Even though I don't have a thing for cartoon, I watch it with them and we are all "happy" in the end.

Over the past months, I have become more elastic to work and giving more time to keeping relationships and ties with family while trying not to be too overshadowed by work.
