Hi, friends.
It's about time when the end of year and beginning of yuletide holiday season begins. Right about now today is my last working day of the year and we are about to get the thirteenth month allowance cum other benefits for the season. Some years ago, this kind of benefits was only seen with the eyes, I looked for are to such a time when I will be getting it to, and today, I am a beneficiary.
A little Christmas party to mark the end of year was staged yesterday evening at the MUSON centre. All staff were eligible to come with only one family member to the party. I jolly well opted for my beautiful wife and together, we partied. There were lots to eat and drink. It was all fun.
Work ends officially on Friday for the year but the office must not be shut down completely. Our amiable Chief Executive Officer is traveling to the states where he would be spending the holiday with his family. So, we are to be at work at most two times before work resumes January. The proposed resumption date is 6th January, 2025. As such, a duty roster was fixed and I ensure it doesn't fall on Christmas day, boxing day, new year Eve and new year day. However, all administrative staff have just two working days to appear in the office.
I planned to have a swell time with my family. We won't be traveling to my hometown in eastern Nigeria but we want to have a fun-filled yuletide season, using all available.
Also the season for my family and I is to be at the RCCG Holy Ghost Congress which begins today and ends on Sunday. My plan is to be at the Redemption City on Wednesday because of an important meeting I must attend.
Then, on 26th of December, on boxing day, we hope to host the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. It hopes to be a memorable event.
In all, my Christmas and new year fun outlined has been fixed and I bet you, it is going to be quite an experi nice for the children.
Since we are going to be staying at my parents place, all.my sibling and their families will be returning home, it hopes to be reunion. Some of the basic things we have outline to eat sir my the two to three weeks holiday are as follows.
• Ikokore/Ifokore (Ijebu food made with water yam.
• Nkwobi- Goat head and legs made with raw palm oil and potash plus other condiments.
• Pounded yam and white soup made with chicken meat.
• Abacha'a - cassava flakes made with local condiments which is referred to African salad.
• Ekpang kukwo- An Efik meal made with cocoyam.
• Grilled chicken and fish.
From the above, you will understand that our Christmas and new year meal arrangement will be great. Our intention is simple. Our children are all born in Lagos and all they know to eat is rice and Noddles. So, we want to be able to make them taste some of the local meals we ate while growing up.
We also intended to speak our local language (Igbo) when the children all come under one roof. My mother, the grandmother of my children had always mentioned that we should not forget that our language to the children is paramount. So, this holiday will be a season when my wards will learn the deep language of their parents.
After the new year day, we will be visiting any of the nearby beach front in Lekki axis of Lagos. I have warned the children already that we aren't swimming, we woul only have our griller stationed in the rented raffia house while we watch the yelling sea and having fun an they have all accepted. It promises to be a great time.
For the children, holiday has started since last week Friday as their school is closed for the year. They now have the freedom to watch their choice television station for five hours, at most. The privilege was not there when the school session was on.
We are all set to begin the holiday and to have as much fun available to us. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a blissful new year in advance.
