My Code: I Don't Borrow People What I Cannot Forgo

Life has taught me a lot of lessons that will remain in my memory forever. As I try to navigate through this world and be as fair as I should to all and sundry, one thing hold sway in my life right now. This a t has become my code of living. It was coined out of an ugly experience I had some years ago.

I just graduated from the university and got a job. Back then, we were paid in cash. Every month end, we will get cleared at the personnel office and issued a pass to get paid in the office of the head of school. This particular month, when I got paid, I arranged the cash currency in my wallet. The currency were all #200 notes, behold, my purpose was filled up with cash notes.

One of my older friends who had a polythene bag company that was doing well in Lagos approached me to lend him some money which I did out of cheer will. I was happy borrowing him the money. He made a promise to return the money in one week.

Unfortunately, one week turned into months and he did not make any refunds neither did he approach me to say what had limited him.

I did not have the courage to ask him about the money so I approached an older friend who was of his age bracket to help me out. This singular act made him.angry that he beat me up.

Some folks who were seated where the beating took place felt offended when I told them what had transpired. They were mad at him and gave him the beating of his life that day. The case almost led to a high community fight between two powerful streets. The street urchins of where this older folk lives came against us and a fight ensued until the vigilante group intervened.

Till today, I did not get a refund of my money. This was how I established my personal living code.

What I Cannot Forgo, I Don't Borrow

This was a hard one for me sincerely. Sometimes, I may begin to think of relaxing this code but when I looked back and remembered what it almost led me, I will just have to stand my grounds.

Today, when a friend who is in need approached me to borrow money, I would turn him or her down but would give my Widow's mite to support him or her but I will not borrow anything that if it were not returned will cause me heartaches.

Sometimes, when he request is not big to trouble me, I will go ahead to borrow and when the borrower does not return it, I don't have to have sleepless night expecting a repayment.

I understand that anything that has an advantage may have disadvantages. Life itself is not fair until you make a move to make life look more presentable to you.in any situation. This is the situation I find myself at a very younger age and it taught me a life experience.

Recently, a case was presented to me in my church. It is exactly like my case. The man who borrowed money does not have the facility to repay now became he has no source of income whereas the one who owns the money felt betrayed because he wanted to be a good friend that he borrowed out a large portion of his life's savings.

To settle this case, I asked the borrower to tell us how he intends to pay back but his answer was like a spear thrown to the chest.

As money comes, I will pay.

The forgoing answer made me advise the man who has the resources that was borrowed out that whatever he cannot forgo, he should not borrow.

This Is My Code For Life

That is it oo. What I cannot let go, I won't loan out. I also have learned this lesson a long time ago with personal experiences. People can be so mean to betray you after you have helped them, only a few would stand on their words.

That's the sad truth.
It better they know your stand so as not to appear a bad person.
I saw shege then. Today, I am better of and know how to handle such situations.

That is it. We learn lessons to help us know how to handle such situations next time they occur.

Wow your code is really very great it have something deep meaning. Good to know !

Many thanks for reading through. My experience led me here though.
