Scientific proofs are steps necessary to protect humanity and the entire globe from total collapse. In this discourse, permit me to lay emphasis on healthcare delivery. The continuous use of animals or guinea pigs as specimen for testing scientific research on medicine has been tagged as cruelty against wildlife.
This is why one school of thought has held tight to the debate that science has caused more harm than good to humanity. This debate is still on and it's becoming heated but the truth still remains that the natural course of action is science stops proving what is not meant to be proved. The more scientific discovery or achievement that is made in the field of medicine the more problems Humanity is poised to experience.
Perhaps, the scientists who take on the responsibility to make research in the laboratory have more than one option in determining the effectiveness of their discoveries, who knows. One thing that is certain is that modern day discoveries have taught us that there are more options that the scientist can adopt instead of using animals.
It Is Unethical
For more than one reason, using animals or guinea pigs as specimens for scientific research can be considered as cruelty on animals.
Anything that causes harm to animals, whether knowingly or unknowingly which can result from abandonment, neglect, physical abuse and many things could be done to cause suffering to an animal. Around the world, especially international organisations, cruelty against animals has become culpable.
Alternatives That Scientists Can Do
There are many other alternatives that scientists should use to prove their research instead of abuse on animals. Let's consider some of these alternatives.
Clinical Trials
When cases arise that have resemblance of tested evidence, the scientist can go ahead to carry out the test on the available patients instead of looking for innocent animals or guinea pigs to use as specimens.
Human Cells and Tissue
Clinical evidence already exists that human waste can be used to run the clinical test. This should be encouraged.
Demographic Relations
A large proportion of humans can be used through sampling to reach a decision that can help medical or scientific research.
On the other hand, it is very important to note that Africans do not have respect for wildlife. It is intricately deadly to assume that wildlife is not in any way relevant to man. The truth is that animals complement the nature circle when they play important roles and must be respected.
Till date animals are still being considered a second fiddle in modern day. Though, the campaign to safeguard wildlife is high now, I hope that the villages and towns will be reached on a wider scale.
