Families and Cars: Should There Be A Limit?

Laws passed are supposed to help the general population lead better lives but those laws are not always popular or in total acceptance by the masses.

Passing a law that will limit families to just the use of one car will be hugely unhelpful in my opinion. There are growing concerns of increasing carbon emissions with each passing day but I do not think making families use just one car will help a lot.

This could theoretically benefit families of small sizes but even with that, how do you define small? Regular families are probably father, mother and 1 or 2 cars who can all fit into a normal sized saloon car. But from our parts of the world, a nuclear family can consist of at least 3 -5 kids. That’s just for the normal ones. Other families can have up to 10 kids which means using 1 car will just be very impractical and not realistic.

Let’s say for a minute this law passes and every family is allowed only one car. Are we going to dictate to families the kind of cars they can drive as well? Because let’s face it, not all cars consume the same fuel and not all probably pollute the environment at the same rate. Are we going to apply this law to even members of state and presidents who travel in entourages of more than 3 cars? When people’s car can no longer run, what will be the requirements to get another? There’s a whole lot which does not make me see the benefit of having a law like this even to the environment.

Maybe you guys can help me in the comments see the benefits a law like this will have in our lives. Because honestly, I do not see it.

Though it might help in the reduction of carbon emissions but unnecessary discomfort to larger families which isn't fair, especially if they can afford more than one car

Haha that's another angle, the families could decide to use a huge car to fit in the one car per family law lol.
I don't see this law solving the problem it is made to solve at all.

In my opinion this will fail from the onset. Come to think of it, if they have just one car it means they’ll end up over using it which will even cause more harm to the environment in the long run.

There are people who can afford more than one car and I think they should be given that privilege to buy as many cars as they want as long as they can keep it road worthy.
