In my country, going to university these days is a big flex for many people. I few months ago, I had a discussion with a friend who told me that most of the ladies in universities come here because they want to oppress their friends and that was because that’s what they tell him. After completing senior high school, once you don’t go to the university the same year, you’re automatically considered a failure here.
This has led to the youth being brainwashed to think that university is the solution to their problems when in reality, after completing, you’ve been able to beat illiteracy but not poverty. To make matters worse, most of these students don’t even know what they want in life. They just buy the forms and select any course they see others selecting. Even if they don’t get it, they’d go in for any other course they’re given which is a huge concern for me. But then again, it’s not my problem cos they wont even listen to me.
Over the years, we’ve observed the gradual emergence of Artificial intelligence. It’s more like from grass to grace cos AI emerged when most of us didn’t expect it. We were all here going about our lives normally and all of a sudden there’s AI to make most things easier for us. And as human as we are, we all obviously hopped on the whole idea.
Today, AI is involved in almost everything we do. Students and teachers make use of AI almost everyday. Companies and even our moms at home use AI. Trust me, if AI should disappear all of a sudden, most of us wouldn’t be okay and our lives would be affected in one way or the other.
Over the years, there has been a debate of AI taking up some jobs and that would mean people in that sector would end up with no jobs. But, there are still thousands of students in universities pursuing some of these courses. I would say the number one job for me would be secretarial jobs. AI is now serving the role of secretaries to may business owners and companies over the world. So, who would need a secretary in a few years time?
Most companies have also started to use AI in the place of human resource managers and customers service providers. One thing you’re sure of here is that AI would not be rude to your customer but how sure are you that , that person you employed wouldn’t piss your clients or customers off?
If even cars are self driving now, what shows that office job of yours would still be yours in a few years time? Looking ahead, there’s a lot to be done even if AI should take up some of these roles. In todays world, skills are needed everywhere but most of us don’t even want to consider the idea of technical and vocational skills. We all want to sit in the office with AC blowing on us all day. If we wish to be useful in the near future, we should consider learning some of these skills are they would be in high demand in a few years to come. Let me also not forget about digital skills and entrepreneurship which have already started being the highlight of the day.
As an individual, you must and have to make sure to be of value at any given point in time cos that’s the only way to survive. A human being with no purpose or value might as well be a tree. I hope you enjoyed reading this, thank you for your time.
