Hello guys,
It’s already the last week of this edition of the newbies initiative program and I must say, I had so much fun. This is my submission for this weeks task where we are required to give our feedbacks and recount on our goals which were set at the beginning of this program.
Task for the week
- What do you think of the Newbies Initiative, and how has it helped your Hive journey?
- How have the tasks given been helpful?
What aspects of the Initiative do you believe we could enhance, and how?- What value do you think you can offer to the initiative?
- Remember the Newbies Initiative Task 1 where you were asked to set down your goals. Show us a recount of your goals and how far you have come through.
What do you think of the Newbies Initiative, and how has it helped your Hive journey?
Personally, the newbies initiative program has been a great and positive impact in my hive journey so far. This initiative is such a wonderful program which aids in teaching newbies on hive a whole lot that we might not have known existed on hive or we just didn’t know how to navigate our way around it. The newbies initiative has taught me a lot. It made me more consistent, dedicated to achieve my goals and also made me more hardworking. I think it’s the perfect place for every newbie.
How have the tasks given been helpful?
The task for every lesson we have every week have helped us learn more about what was taught and to also share with others. Aside that, it also gives our teachers the opportunity to check our understanding of what was taught and make corrections if necessary. These tasks have helped me a lot and this is why I say so;
TASK 1
For this task, we were to set SMART goals for the next two months and share some strategies we plan to use to achieve our goals. This task aided me throughout my journey as a student of the newbies program. I also came to learn and understand further the importance of setting goals for ourselves and working hard to achieve them. The past weeks haven’t been easy as I was always striving to meet my set goals
TASK 2
Task two comprised of Dos and Don’ts of hive, markdowns and canva tutorials. For this task, we were made to put what we were taught to practice. We shared what we were taught from our lessons with others on the blockchain. In this task I talked about the dos and Don’ts of hive. Now we all know that plagiarism is a no no on hive and we are required to write quality posts. We are also required to engage more on the blockchain to be able to make more friends and also source all images taken from the internet.
I also made use of markdowns in my post of which I indicated them. My thumbnail was designed by me on canva and I learnt this from the tutorial and also the video which was provided as a learning guide for us. I also showed how i designed my thumbnail in my post.
TASK 3
From this task, I got to explore more on the various hive keys and their uses. I also learnt the procedure to follow to recover my account incase it gets compromised. Also, I learnt ways to keep my account safe by storing my keys well and also not clicking on links I do not trust. This task helped me a lot as I didn’t know the use of some of the keys. An example is the memo key.
TASK 4
This task was very fun as I got to try my hands on some practical work. I learnt about the different hive Dapps and features that make them special from others. I also got to make use of 3speak for the first time in my hive journey and I had so much fun doing that.😅
TASK 5
Our teachers broadened our knowledge on hive engine , the various tribe tokens, tipping tokens and mining tokens. I got to learn that it is possible for one to abuse tokens and with that , measures have been put in place to avoid that. I also got to try my hands on a practical work where I converted 1.1hive to swap.hive and back to hive again. Oh and I also discovered some new exchanges.
TASK 6
Task 6 had to do with blockchain games. Can you imagine I played a game after ages.😅 Well, that’s one of the benefits of being apart of this program. You get to have a lot of fun as you learn. I discovered some new games and I made a lot of research on how to play them. Who knows, I might become a gamer soon. Watch out for me.😅
What aspects of the Initiative do you believe we could enhance, and how?
Everything about this initiative is very good but as we all know, no one is perfect and same applies to this initiative. From my point of view, I think that the release of the tasks for the week should be done earlier because sometimes we have to wait till mid week before the task is released. I understand that our tutors are busy with other stuff but I think if the task is released early ,more people would get ample time to submit their entries.
What value do you think you can offer to the initiative?
From all that I have learnt from this initiative, I believe I have more than enough to offer to the initiative. As we learn , we should try to help others who also do not know so I will make sure to be available anytime I am needed by the leaders of this initiative for any kind of help which is related to the initiative. I want to give to the initiative as others have also given to me through this initiative and I would be glad if given the opportunity to do that.
Remember the Newbies Initiative Task 1 where you were asked to set down your goals. Show us a recount of your goals and how far you have come through.
At the start of this program, I set some goals for myself and so this is a recount of how far I have come with the goals I set for myself
Hive Power Goal
At this start of this program my hive power was 340Hp and my aim was to hit 600Hp. My hive power has increased to 440HP which is not close to my set goal.
This is due to the fact that I was unable to power up constantly and also didn’t post for a while because I had school work to handle. I hope to meet my target in the next few weeks as I am working towards that.
Followers Goal
My followers at the beginning of this program were 31 in total and I planned to obtain about 50 followers by the end of the initiative which meant that I needed about 19 followers.
Currently I have managed to get my followers to 61 which exceeded my goal. This means that I obtained 30 new followers who like my content.
Reputation Goal
My reputation was at 61 and I aimed to hit 65 reputation but I guess it’s easier said than done. I wouldn’t say I failed to meet my target but I tried my best.
My reputation is currently at 62 and almost at 63 now. I guess it gets harder as you climb up but with hard-work and dedication, I know that I would get there one day.
Engagement Goal
My engagement goal at the beginning of the program was to make at least 10 -15 comments everyday. I have tracked myself and realized that 70% of the time I meet my target and even exceed it most often. With this, I have been able to interact with more and more people with each passing day as I continue to learn new stuff everyday
Consistency Goal
When it comes to consistency, I must say that I have done very well for the past few weeks as I make it a point to make at least 1-2 posts in two days and also I try to hit my target of at least 5 posts a week. Some days I make two posts and on other days when I’m not inspired, I take some time off just to engage in the blockchain. I hope to keep this energy for the rest of my time on the blockchain.
Appreciation
I would like so extend my gratitude to the organizers of the newbies initiative program. To our tutors @starstrings01 @nkemakonam89 @vickoly @ksam and our sweet team leaders @depressedfuckup @moremoney28 @justfavour I saw a very big thank you to you all for teaching us and guiding us throughout this program. The support you gave to us these past weeks is really appreciated and I pray that God blesses you all in a million folds.
I also want to say a very big thank you to the curators of the program @theycallmedan @aliento @lazy-panda and @blocktrades. We are very grateful for your support throughout this initiative. God bless you all.
To my fellow newbies and team members, it was fun having you all around these few weeks, I hope the bonds we have created are not lost and we continue to communicate with each other on the blockchain. I hope you see you all around.
Thank you everyone! Do enjoy the rest of your day.
