It's funny how some people, the less privileged, refuse to talk about their loan because they are ashamed to mention that they look a loan to solve a problem, while on the other hand, the rich come online on social media to talk about how they collect loan worth millions of dollars to channel into real estate and stuffs that will multiply thr money.
Some people take loans and pay back immediately, while some, welp, palm pay will have to come to their doorstep with police, and still, they will not pay back the loan.
It is one thing to take a loan to purchase and asset or invest in a promising business with juicy ROI. It is another thing to get a loan, just t live a fake life, buy flashy liabilities, It is also, it is another thing to take a loan for the purpose of settling a debt - school or another loan. Imagine somebody taking a loan to settle another loan. Lol. Things are happening.
When I was still a student, there are times when life becomes as hard as a rock, but I still navigate through. I always tell myself that; no matter how bad things seems to be, I will never take a loan from a bank or from any other institution. Welp, I guess at that time, life was just playing and was not actually hitting me hard.
Two times, I took a loan from two different institutions. One made me really annoyed, but the other? Welp, I was not entirely proud, but then, it was a necessity and I was at least, happy that i resolved the situation.
Naturally, I hate calling nobody for financial assistance, my parents included, not even to borrow money from them. I believe that, instead of taking from my parents, I am supposed to add to their fortune.
About one year ago or so, it was announced that we will be going to another school to get a certificate that will aid my career as a nurse. Reproductive health was not a bad idea, but the problem was that I was really low on cash. The only money I had was that which I used to feed, and buy other basic necessities, including that of medication if i eventually get sick.
It was said that we are to pay 45k naira for that experience, but the money in my account was not up to 30k. I had to rent an apartment for the two months, I had to feed, I had to pay transportation and many more bills that came to my table during that time.
Difficult to concentrate, I gradually sank deep in thoughts, where do i go? what should i do? Who should I call for assistance didn't cross my mind, as all I thought of was what to do to get money.
I decided to confide in my elder brother. Knowing to well that I will reject his help, he told me about a loan agency. After giving it some thoughts, I decided to take the loan. Though they have high interest rates, I had no option but to take the loan.
Though i was late and had to face some embarrassing moments, I paid the fees, got my certificate and yeah, i became a family planning provider.
The payment procedure was fair as it involves weekly instalments for the next 6 months. Every Wednesday day, I pay a certain amount but if I fail to pay at the right time, then a penalty of one thousand naira will be added. It was quite difficult at first, but I adapted and I manage to pay off the loan.
Though paying back the loan was hard, all that matters was the fact that I escaped the embarrassment. Women and their bad mouth, if you know what I mean. Being the course representative, it was somewhat worst. Though the embarrassment was not public, I was constantly bad mouthed by the woman in charge of collecting the fee. Welp, I'm glad that the storm ended.
