Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. Your workplace ought to be a place where you find comfort, as you spend most of your time there. Sometimes I picture how, after spending almost all day in an uncomfortable environment, the employee will wake up discouraged, and some might be forced to quit. A friend of mine convinced me to follow her to apply for a teaching job. Reaching there, the proprietor was just shouting at everyone, and they were all trembling, and I turned to her, and she said, "This is what we suffer every day; he cannot talk to anyone calmly, not the staff and not the students." It was from that moment I knew I could not work there; after all, I don't even like teaching not to talk more when it is coupled with such embarrassment every day.

The importance of a comfortable workspace cannot be overemphasized, a work space where both superiors and subordinates know how to relate with each other without making anyone feel less of themselves. Though workspaces like this are hard to come by, but they do exist. Every workspace has benefits that come with it. Working is not easy and can be stressful, so one does need a kind of motivation, something aside from the pay that keeps them going. A work space without benefits for employees or workers is one where they will have different employees every now and then, as no employee will want to stay for long in place with zero benefits aside from the pay.
I had to leave my workplace back to school, but one of the many benefits of my workplace is the knowledge gained. Before I started working with this particular sachet water producing company, I had zero knowledge of how sachet water is being produced, but now with the knowledge gained, I believe I can actually set up my own company and run it perfectly without needing much assistance. If the knowledge gained is taken away and considering how stressful the job is, then I will be forced to quit because the knowledge gained is one of the reasons I am eager to report to the office every morning because we keep learning new stuff daily.
A friendly workspace, though the manager can be dramatic sometimes. Workers lunch is on the company, and that is the best part of it. For lunch, every worker gets 1,000 naira ($0.64), so now it's left for the worker to either get food or save the money for something else. It used to be 300 naira ($0.19), but they were considerate enough to increase, as 300 naira won't be enough to get anything reasonable with how bad the economy got. The job is stressful, but the benefits that come with it are the only reason we show up every day, not even the salary.

At my place of work, on weekends every employee could take two bags of water home if they wish to. I don't miss taking mine, though, even if I can't take it home myself, I'd call on my siblings to come pick it up since it's not that far from home. This alone made my mom stop complaining about the job. I leave home at 5am sometimes to come back at 9pm. She was complaining about how stressful it was because she felt the pay wasn't enough for all the stress, but the weekend bags of water, when calculated, amounted to a substantial amount and are a kind of consolation for all the stress.
