Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. The evolvement of technology has made a lot of things really possible; the days of waiting for months before your letter is delivered to the recipient are no more, as we now have texting and chatting on social media, which makes the exchange of information even faster. Social media is one place we all go to have fun, but a lot of people have turned it into a harmful space, a space where people who give in are being misled, a place where negativity is now the order of the day.
Those days you could even learn things you did not know from social media; even verified news of recent happenings could be found on social media those days, but now it is not so, as this generation has turned it into something different.
Those days people were on social media for the fun of it, sharing what they deemed fit with the general public, and anyone seeing what you shared would be comfortable with it, but it is no longer so. These days a lot of people have turned social media space into a space where they insult, live a fake life, and claim to be who they are not, making people feel like they are not doing enough for themselves, and, most of all, a space for nudity and sharing of things not fit for the eyes. Gone are the days when social media was safe for kids; these days, almost everything revolves around nudity, as many content creators feel the only way to grow or get recognized is by getting involved in such things, and they do it without hesitation, forgetting that social media is a space for both adults and kids who have not come of age, and coming across things like that exposes them to certain things before their time.
There are many people, especially ladies, who have made posting nude content on their social media accounts all in the name of wanting to grow the account or blow up since they believe that it is the only way to grow or blow up on social media. Truth be told, there are certain accounts that when you visit them, you just tell yourself that whoever is the owner or behind the account is a very big disgrace to the family they were born into.
Some people bring shame to their families by what they post on social media; you are an individual, but you are a representative of your family and everyone related to you anywhere you go, which is why we have to beware of what we say, do, or post on social media.
For me, I do not see companies or employers asking employees to submit their social media handles as prying into their privacy; instead, I see it as a way of getting to know who they are about to employ better. As an individual, your social media account and what you post there say a lot about you and can be considered as a good representative of you. Employers can take a good look at your social media accounts and draw a conclusion of what to expect if they employ you or if they should save themselves the stress and not offer you the job. Every employee is a representative of the firm they work for, which makes knowing an employee very well very important.
