Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. The level of punishment athletes receive once traces of performance enhancers are seen in their bloodstream says it all. It might help the athlete perform better, but overtime, the effect it has on their life will keep them off the track or field forever, which is very bad for their career, which makes it highly prohibited for them. One of my favorite footballers, Paul Pogba, won't be playing football for four years because of a case like this. Imagine what happens to his career; coming back after four years is like starting all over again, which many people online doubt he would want to make a return to football after his punishment, which means he'd be going for an early retirement without achieving much like he must have dreamt of.

Somebody with enhancers and somebody without enhancers are not equal; enhancers top their strength, and in most cases, they feel like immortals. We went to a football match once, and a few of our opponents took drugs and were playing like it's war and not football; they had no respect for the officials, not the referee or his assistants, and not even their opponents, so with enhancers, the spirit of sportsmanship is not there at all, which is not good for sports.
Truth be told, I do support the ban on performance enhancers for athletes. When athletes are allowed to use these enhancers, we will never know their capabilities, and when they make it a habit, they automatically rely on them completely and won't be able to perform if they don't take them, which is quite bad for sports. Taking enhancers for sports is the same thing as risking one's life, so whether the risk is reduced to the barest minimum, it will still have negative effects; it only needs time before it strikes. Funny how these enhancers attack vital organs like the heart and liver, leaving the athlete with no choice other than to give up their career, as no one with such health conditions is allowed to participate in sports.
With enhancers in the picture, it is no longer a competition as those on enhancers are already at an advantage with extra strength, agility, and all that they need to win. When those playing with natural strength are getting tired and exhausted, those on enhancers are just getting started. When one of the competitors has an edge over the other before the competition starts, then it is no longer a competition. Enhancers will only encourage athletes to be lazy and not put in the work; all they need to do is not train, and on the big day, take these enhancers and perform magic.

So the enhancers being banned are for the good of sportsmanship, and for athletes, without enhancers, it simply means athletes must work really hard to achieve everything they want, and failure to put in the work means there is nothing to win or achieve. Also, for the safety of athletes, because of how harmful these enhancers are, even if the risk is reduced to the barest minimum, it does not change the fact that a time will come when they have an effect on the athlete, an effect that will leave the athlete in regret and wishing they never used enhancers. So it is better the way it is, for good health and a good spirit of sportsmanship.
