Art is a very diverse term, it cuts through every aspect of life, it's a multifaceted concept that encompasses various forms of creative Human expression.
In the most simple definition:
Art can be defined as the expression or the application of human creativity and imagination usually in visual, auditory, or performing forms.
There are many types of Arts out there:
(1) Performing Arts: these are the type of Arts that requires physical performance, examples of performing art are:
Music: Music is the art of Arranging sounds in a meaningful order, to create an Harmonious expressions of Ideas and emotion. This could be either Vocal or Instruments (instrumentals).
There are several genres too: rock , pop , electronic, afrobeats, rnb, rap, hip-hop etc
Dance: This is a form of Art which involves movement of the body and Body gestures to create emotions and ideas. We also have different types of dance,like ballet dance, breakdance, electronic dances,dab, jerk , happy feets, in Africa here several dances like azonto, kukere, I cant even remember them all lol
Theater: This is a collaborative form of performing arts that deals with acting, directing, designing and many more creative acts for an audience,
Examples are: Drama , comedy, music and physical drama.
Film: can be defined as a series of moving images that tell a story, show real-life events, or convey information, usually with sound and music.
(2) Literary Arts: this is a type of art which involves Writing and it uses imagination, creativity, and language to express thoughts, feelings, and ideas, such as novels, poetry, short stories, and plays.
(3) Decorative Arts: can be defined as an Art form that create beautiful and functional objects for everyday use, such as furniture, textiles, ceramics, jewelry, and interior design..
Just like the name implies, these type of art are used for decorative purposes.

(4) Visual Arts: Examples of visual Arts are: Painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and printmaking. Painting are usually done on Paper, walls or Object body.
(5) Digital Arts: Example of Digital Arts includes the following: Graphic design, animation, video games, and digital media. These are the most recent form of Arts
Haven understand the Concept of Arts, let's delve in to the topic of the Prompt:
Should there be a meaningful message behind Arts? Or can we just enjoy the Art without and message behind it?
My Answer is No! An Emphatic No,
Just imagine this:
You woke up one day and then you switched on your TV to watch a Movie without titles or no particular plot and no particular lesson to be learnt from the movie, just imagine how boring and meaningless it would be.
It would make no sense at all, I want to believe every movie are product of reality and imaginations, some are based on real life events which have a particular message to learnt from it, although the lesson might have a negative meaning or Positive meaning, either way, there is always something to learn from it.

We might say it just a random picture of a woman smiling rather mysteriously but the truth is many have learnt a lot from the Art piece, we now see people who are inspired to do something more mysterious through art, something more intriguing.
Life is too short to be boring or meaningless.
Even the music we listen to, are all having a meaning or message in them, regardless of how the performer made them.
In conclusion : Every piece of art should have a meaning.
