It's been a wonderful ride on the newbie's initiative. As a newbie here in the hive I have learned a lot in the past week thanks to the initiative. I want to thank the speaker @nkemakonam89 and the host @starstrings01 for taking us through the session though I wasn't online till the end because of the bad network. My partner @eunice9200 took her time to explain some things to me which gave me more understanding. She was ever ready and even reminded me of the session that we had on Sunday. I couldn't have asked for a better partner.
The session was filled with so many lessons ranging from the differences between centralized and decentralized platforms, sourcing, tags, engagement, post recycling, and vote begging. and it centered on the do's and don'ts of the hive which are like simple rules you can follow consistently to make you thrive on the hive.

A centralized platform is a platform owned by one or more persons and they make decisions that influence the users of their platform. The owner manages and influences your account solely on the decisions they make for example we have Reddit and Facebook. They earn more when we feed them with our attention.
A decentralized platform is where the users have full control of their accounts. They manage it and carry out their activities without anyone using the users for their gain. An example of a decentralized platform is hive.
Plagiarism is an act of copying or taking a person's work or content without giving the person due credit. In layman's language, that person is a thief and it's reaping where he or she did not sow. Doing this as a writer on the hive can result in punishment.
Vote begging is simply an act of asking fellow writers to upvote your content. It's an irritating habit that is not condoned in the hive platform. Instead, if you create wonderful content with hard work and consistency you get upvotes from fellow hive members.
Post-recycling is an act of editing previous posts or the content you've written in a particular community to post in another community. It's an offense. Instead, try and come up with fresh ideas every day to create content. I have a jotter that I use at home I just write about different topics and also try to snap new pictures every day because there might be a day I will need them. And if there are similar topics in a community and I have written on it before and I can't come up with a fresh idea, instead of copying my previous post and editing some words I'll just leave it to avoid getting into trouble
THE IMPORTANCE OF TAGS
Tags help us in promoting our content and help the right audience in locating our content. So, it's very important to use the write tags for your content. Don't misplace tags know what to use and when to use them so that it will create more visibility. So far the general tags during my short time in the hive and which I often use are
