HARMATTAN

In my country there are many seasons such as planting, harvesting, dry and rainy seasons. But I want to talk about a different season - harmattan. It usually comes around November till January sometimes it enters February. One good aspect of harmattan is that farmers likes it because the wind that comes with it enters the soil and fertilizes the soil as it were, making fruits, vegetables and other farm products come in great quantity.

While growing up I hated harmattan. Why? Simply because it cracked my heels, lips and face. I don't really feel comfortable. I remember vividly how I will cry uncontrollably due to pains coming from my lips. I can't laugh
heartly or open my mouth widely to laugh. Unknowingly I will be licking my lips making the pains more severe.

My small HARMATTAN make-up kit with jelly that I rub on my face, making my face shine brightly.

My cracked lips. I use wet lips now.

My heels
My heels always cracks and pains me a lot more especially after walking a long distance.

No cracks on my heels because I now wear socks whenever I want to go out.

Cold
I feel cold during harmattan. Sometimes before I bath, my mom will scold me telling other young ones of my age that I have not taken my bath. So out of shame and embarrassment I will then take my bath. In the night I will cover myself with big blanket and in the morning before going out I will wear a jacket to cover myself.

Everywhere will be dusty as a result i usually have running nose, headache and fever. My aunt made a small nose cover for me.

What Changed
I can't really say. I started to like harmattan. Is now my best season of the year. I now look forward to it. Will I say that as an adult I now have a different perspective of nature? Did my hormones adjusted to the weather. I can't really say. One thing is sure: harmattan is now my best season. To avoid pains on my leg, I wear socks while going out. As for my lips i use wet lips and I try not to lick my lips.

In the night I will sleep like a baby and wake up refreshed and happy. What about you? Do you enjoy or hate harmattan?
