GETTING BACK ON TRACK: HOW I OVERCAME THE ELECTRICITY ISSUE IN MY AREA

Earlier this month, the electricity in my area developed some issues due to a malfunction with the electricity transformer. It affected my activity online as I could only use my phone for only a short while. There were times I couldn't even use my phone for several days. This was unprecedented and I knew I had to take some important steps so I could get back on track to stay in touch with friends, loved ones and also be active on Hive.

Even though it was unplanned, I had to find a means to surmount this challenge. Since the charger I was using before charges quite slowly, I only get a few percentage increase whenever I charge at my workplace. I knew I also needed to have a means to charge my phone whenever I'm away from workplace.

To achieve these two goals, I had to make efforts towards buying a new Android phone charger and a power bank. Due to my tight work schedule, I knew I could not have the time to go to a physical store where phone accessories are sold so I had to make use of one of the most popular online shopping platforms 'JUMIA'. This saved me a lot of stress and transport fare.

Prior to this moment, I have had some experiences with them and I knew they offer quick and top-notch services. However, I was unprepared for what eventually happened.

I wanted the best product so I took time to surf through the JUMIA mobile app for the best vendor. Eventually, I selected ORAIMO's official store since they offered the best price #15,200 ($20) for 27,000 mAh and an Android charger for ₦3,800 ($5). The total price was ₦19,000 ($25). The delivery cost was ₦3,160 ($4) but I was lucky that the promotional discount offers free delivery to my location.

It is at times like this that I appreciate myself for always saving part of my income. If I had no savings, I would not be able to solve this challenge and I might have had to resort to borrowing to be able to pay for the items. Nevertheless, past experiences have taught me that it is always good to save for the rainy day.

I waited in vain on the due date for the delivery of the items. The next day, a delivery agent called saying he was bringing the items yet he never came.
I decided to call him but he didn't pick. Later, I got an sms stating that he was at the hospital. I didn't know the reason but I had to become sympathetic. Later, he responded that I would receive it the next Monday and the date was changed on the app.

As agreed, another delivery agent brought the items on Monday. I took some snapshots as I unboxed them excitedly.

Even though the powerbank had 74% capacity on delivery, I knew it was advisable to let it charge to 100% before I start using it. I did this and it was until yesterday that it got to that level. The Android charger was also quite fast. I was glad I made the right choice because ORAIMO is one of the leading producers of quality phone accessories and gadgets in Africa. I'm very sure I'll be one of their first customers when they start producing smartphones and laptops too.

I am elated that I was able to surmount this challenge. And evidently, I'm glad I'll be able to share my stories, thoughts and ideas on Hive. In addition to this, I'll be able to keep learning and building mutually productive connections with people from various parts of the world.

During the past few weeks, I've been engaging in a lot of interesting activities and I can't wait to share it with you all.

Indeed oraimo power bank has been saving lives since the 90s 😂😂. At least now you won't bother about power supply much.

Yes ooo!
After garri, the next lifesaver is Oraimo. 😆😆
Both of them should be in a First Aid box 🎁.

I've only ordered a pendrive online on Kikku, and the lessons I learnt from that purchase is the reason I stopped buying anything onlin entirely. It gave me trust issues. It was the typical "what you order vs what you receive" case. I ordered a 128GB Pendrive and indeed I received a 128GB pendrive. "Well what is the problem then?". The problem is that the pendrive was 128GB alright, but for some reason, only 20GB out of the 128GB could hold files. You could copy things up to 128GB inside it, but only the first 20GB of files copied would be uncorrupted and accessible. The remaining of 100+GB of files will be sitting in the pendrive corrupted. It took me about 2 months to figure out that the "don't corrupt" limit (as I used to call it) was 20GB.

I'm glad that your experience was different, and I hope that the accessories serve you well. My Kikku purchase ruined online shopping for me now and given me trust issues.

That's so true. Online shopping can be quite risky.
I'm sorry about your experience with the pendrive. These sort of issues can make one pessimistic about purchasing things from online vendors especially if there is no warranty, refund policy or a guaranty that it can be returned when there is no client's satisfaction.
Thank you for your kind words. The powerbank has been serving me quite well since the beginning of the week.
I hope your trust in online shopping is rekindled because it saves a lot of stress.

Glad to hear. As for me, I think I’m beginning to give it a chance again. I’m very open-minded, so my mind is always open to be changed. Enjoy the gadgets, man.

Good to know that.
Thanks a lot, Sir.
