School Uniforms

One of the topics that didnt make it to the top three topics during last week's Saturday hangout on the Hive Learners discord server was the uniform topic, and it happens to be a topic that I find interesting, so I will be writing on it anyway.

Back in the day, whenever I was watching any foreign high school movie, I would always envy the fact that they didn't have to go to school in uniforms because it made them look super cool and I wanted to look like that.

You see, my high school uniform was a white top and black trouser, with a black tie. So what that meant was that almost everyday I got back home from school, I had to wash them, most especially the white top because the last thing I wanted was to go to school the next day with a dirty uniform.

So at the time, all I wanted was to not wear uniforms to school anymore, but then I got to the university and after my first month there, my thought on that topic changed entirely.

You see, one of the reasons why I wanted us not to wear uniforms anymore was because I felt I had a lot of clothes that I could wear to school without having to wash them almost everyday like I did my school uniform, but that was me looking at things only from my own perspective...

Because if I was being reasonable, I would have thought about those other kids who probably didn't have enough clothes like I did, how they would be able to make it to school everyday, having to wear different clothes to class, clothes they didn't have.

Which funny enough, was the predicament I found myself in during my first year in school. You see, I had gone to the university with those clothes I thought I had, but it turned out that while those clothes may have been good enough for high-school, it wasn't for university.

So I found myself struggling everyday, for a year, trying to pick out good outfits to wear to school. And sadly, I wasn't getting that much allowance for me to go shopping with it.

Luckily for me, I had gone home after my first year and explained to my parents and siblings and things was never as bad as it was, ever again.

I always wanted to go to school in a uniform because it saved a lot of trouble for me. I think it saved my time as I didn't need to waste my time thinking about what to wear. Whatever, in university there are no restrictions about it. So, in university life, I can wear whatever I want.

As a kid, I didn't really have much problem thinking of what to wear, or at least that was what I thought. So that was one of the many reasons why I didn't want uniforms 😅.

Very interesting article of my friend, indeed it is very rare that there is a topic like you tell in the hive learners community, I think this is one of the very interesting ideas 😍😊

Thank you for reading.

You're welcome my friend 😊

This is so true.ita funny how age and passage of time just changes our perspective on things in life.

I believe the idea of school uniforms also puts a certain consciousness in the hearts of the pupils and students that school is different from other places.

Yeah, that too. Also, something about uniforms just makes everyone look clean, responsible and organized.

Yes. Exactly 💯
