As usual on this occasion I am back to greet all of you in the Hive Learners community, namely to enliven the featured contest held by the Hive Learners community. This contest is very interesting because only here we. Can tell each other and share our experiences about various things that happen around us. This contest has entered its second edition in Week 52. In this contest we will discuss something very interesting that might be an annoying experience or maybe an experience that makes us aware of the words we say. Our discussion this time is about our experience of a joke that we have told to our friend or a joke that we have received from our friend. However, the joke offended our friend or offended us if we received it. Jokes are common in a meeting but sometimes without us realising there are jokes that can offend without us realising we have done or have experienced. For this reason, I will tell you a little experience that I have experienced about a joke that offended me.

The presence of a joke at a time is usually to find a sense of humour so as to make the atmosphere more cheerful and open. But sometimes jokes are not only fun but can also hurt other people's feelings. It all happens because the jokes that are told sometimes contain sensitive things that make the person who receives the joke feel offended. Although we all know that a joke is just a joke so we don't need to take it seriously, sometimes a joke can cross the line so that it can hurt feelings.

In an association we sometimes hear jokes being told to each other, as long as they don't cross the line it is considered normal. Sometimes jokes are delivered consciously or unconsciously such as mocking or demeaning others, it can be said to have crossed the line. Before we tell a joke, it's good to see if it's appropriate to tell it. If we don't know, we can reflect on ourselves, for example if the joke is directed at us, will it offend us. But all that does not guarantee because everyone has a different level of sensitivity sometimes jokes that seem ordinary and do not offend if we practice the same thing to others can hurt their feelings. It also depends on who we tell the joke to. Time and place are also sometimes very influential. Like when we tell a joke when there are not many people the response is normal but not necessarily the same response we will get when we tell the same joke in a public place and many people. Moreover, when someone is getting into trouble it will make the person more sensitive to the joke, especially jokes related to the problems he faces. For this reason, we must be clever in telling a joke so as not to offend others.

I am a fairly quiet person so I am very careful in speaking because I do not want to offend others. But it's not impossible that I never offend others with my words. I think it happened once when I felt cornered because he said something bad to me first so I spontaneously defended myself. Maybe the words I said offended other people, it was all because I just wanted to defend myself from the person who had humiliated me.

But I also had an experience about a joke that made me take offence. This incident happened a very long time ago but I still remember this incident and how I was humiliated in front of many people. This incident happened when I was sitting with two of my friends at the house of one of my friends. It just so happened that we had nothing to do so we decided to sit back and relax while chatting and watching TV. At that time there was a comedy show on television so it was quite entertaining for us at that time. There was one scene that showed a comedian pranking his friend while making jokes that made us laugh while watching it. One of the jokes they did was to make fun of each other's friends' names, so one of my friends imitated the joke while mangling my name. At the time I took it for granted because I just smiled when I heard my friend's joke.

Actually, I didn't really respond to the joke, I just considered it a joke. I didn't take it seriously. But it all turned out to be beyond my expectations. When we were gathering with other friends at a coffee shop located in my area. My friend made the joke again by joking about my name. I was fine at first but when I heard many of my friends there laughing and repeating the joke, it made me very offended and angry at that time because my good name was given by my parents so easily they made it into a joke. At that time I felt so angry that I decided to go back and leave my friends there, their laughter made me very angry and offended at that time. Even though I didn't express it I'm sure they all knew what I was feeling at the time because when I left they all fell silent instantly. On another occasion my friend who had made the joke apologised for the joke he had made. He didn't think I would take offence at the time. But everything has happened and I have forgiven my friend. I hope it can be a lesson for him so that next time he will be more careful in his words.

That was a little experience that made me upset over a joke that my friend did. But all of that has passed and is just a memory. I apologise if there are any mistakes in my writing. I really hope that constructive criticism and suggestions from you so that in the future it can be better. Thank you very much for visiting. Have a nice day everyone.

All of my writing above I wrote above using Indonesian, then I translated it into English using the help of Google Translate.

Best Regards @rahmatandesti

It's ok that you reacted at that very moment when you felt you can't take the names they call you again. I also don't like people making fun out of my name's at all

Sometimes people think they are cool when they can make jokes on other people. without him realizing it makes other people hurt. Thank you very much for your kind feedback, have a nice day .
