The month of March was a wonderful month for me because I was off school for the holiday, so I got to spend time with my family. It's always a beautiful thing to have a family that gives you peace of mind and joy.
Also this past month, I had fun in the sense that I was able to try a new dish, as per the foodie that I am. And I also took time out to visit an amusement park on one of my younger brothers's birthdays, which happened to be on the 25th of March.
Part of the fun I had that day, I wouldn't dare try such again. At the park, there is a big swing-like object named the big pendulum. I saw people climbing it and having fun, so I decided to join in the fun.
At first, when the object started moving, it was fun because it was gradually moving until suddenly, when the speed changed, it was moving to and fro and also sideways, like a ship that wanted to capsize. I nearly lost my mind; my heart was racing like it would pop out of my chest.
A few minutes into it, I became restless, feeling nauseated and weak. I had to close my eyes until the ride ended. When I was back on the ground, I had to sit for like 30 minutes to catch my breath and thank God for the safe landing.
My mom happens to be a chef, and it's a must that we try new dishes in my house now and then. It had become the family's culture. My mom always introduced new spices, complements, and dishes for the family to taste. We ended up enjoying some while we didn't, probably due to the ingredients used in the preparation or how it was prepared.
Before the Easter celebration, my mom had been telling us that she would love to prepare a special delicacy that we'd never tasted before for Easter. Everyone in the house was wondering what that would be. When my mom was given the dish, it was one of a kind. We were all imagining what the dish would be until she mentioned Chinese rice.
We all lost the excitement on our faces at the mention of Chinese rice because the name alone has disqualified the dish even before it's being prepared. I was silently praying silently to God to make the dish a good one because it wouldn't make sense to spend huge money on buying all the ingredients, and later we wouldn't be able to eat the food.
I followed my mom to the market to get the ingredients she needed. All the ingredients are more than twenty, which she listed out. Some of these ingredients are ones we've never used for cooking before.
After church service, on getting home, we started the preparation, and it took longer than I expected, but the surprising thing about the dish was that my mom added no seasoning to it, which is salt or Maggi, yet the food turned out so well. It was very delicious, I must say, and it would be difficult to tell that it wasn't seasoned.
I guess all the ingredients added to it gave it the sweetness it required. We all enjoyed eating the food, including our family and friends that came around to celebrate with us. Trying this new delicacy made Easter fun for me. Yes, I'm a foodie; you can say that again.
Spending time with friends and family makes the month of March a lovely month for me. Strengthening my relationship with everyone around me makes me happy, and having a positive impact on the lives of those closer to me gives me immense joy.
