What is Personal Growth?
Personal Growth is the process whereby you discover and develop yourself to reach your full potential. I read somewhere that
Personal growth is a process of both understanding yourself and pushing yourself to reach your highest potential
According to that definition above, you need to come to a point of understanding yourself and push yourself based on your capacity. That was exactly what I did.
I used to be very timid. I suffered from low self-esteem. Hey, I wasn't bullied or anything as such but I never believed in myself and my potential.
Well, I got to understand myself, and my fears and I pushed myself to become better.
Comparing yourself today with how you were five to ten years ago. How far have you come? |

5 years ago, I had just graduated from High School. I didn't have so much planned out for life but I knew one thing, I wanted to be an independent young lady. That mindset influenced my growth.
A few months after school I couldn't find anything doing, so I was just at home. I later started learning the guitar from one of my brother's friends (my sister and my elder brother too could play).
My first love was the piano but I couldn't learn it so I went for the guitar (we had the guitar, keyboard, and drum set at home).
Well, I did learn a few things but didn't proceed with it, but at least that kept me busy for some time. I enrolled in a skill acquisition training center where I learned computing, after which I took a job in a business center at Lagos State University.
Then I got full access to the Internet after I bought myself a good android phone. I have always been a person who loved learning, I can be inquisitive to know more.
My connection to the internet exposed me to a lot of knowledge that I grabbed with my everything. I started becoming the one with the latest personal developing information among my siblings and my friends.
I was growing and didn't relent in helping those around me grow. I introduced lots of opportunities to my siblings and my friends.
My growth has been very encouraging
What are the steps I took to ensure my growth? |

Right from when I graduated from high school I never loved being idle, even the Bible says "An idle mind is the devil's workshop" If I'm not reading, I'm reading just to keep myself busy and productive. So first of all:
🔸 I never stayed without learning: You can learn from different things depending on what interests you. I enjoyed reading books and watching movies.
Mind you, when I watch movies I don't just watch, I learn from the movies. There are so many things I have learned from certain movies either I learn new vocabulary or learn about places or things that I normally wouldn't have known about. Even while I had nothing doing I ensured I learn new things every day.
🔸 I faced my fear/dislike: In high school, the science department never had a stable computer teacher, in fact, we were not offering computer. so I so much disliked computer studies, I had not even one tiny interest in it.
When I went to register for the Skill Acquisition I had it in mind to go for Hair Making (they offered various skills) but fate brought me to computing. When I was told that computer was the only course available, I was willing to wait for the next session but I decided to face my fear or rather my dislike and I went for it.
Now I'm in love with computers, tech and all. In fact, it expanded my knowledge. I became the go-to person in my house for anything computer-related. I helped my sister prepare for job interviews by teaching her things about computing that would have deprived her of the job opportunities. I grew so well.
🔸 I never stopped learning: Like they say "No one is an island of knowledge" In other words, nobody knows it all, so we do what, we continue learning. I connected with great people online, enrolled for various skills, and continued learning.
Also, from time to time examine yourself to know how much progress you are making, if possible ask those around you to tell about any changes in you.
Take Away: Just ensure you always learn, never stop learning because the moment you do, you begin to die gradually (literally).
Thanks for reading🤗💫
