It's a beautiful new week and I want to say it's a pleasure to be here again for this week's weekly featured contest. How are we all doing and I hope we're having a smooth ride this week? I pray that God in his infinite mercy will open doors of opportunities for us this week in Jesus name. This is week #103 and Edition 01 of this week's contest and I'd be talking on the theme that is titled Business and Love.
Business a generally know as a strategic way of making money either by buying and selling or by rendering any form of service. Different people has chosen different ways to make money so the success of your chosen business all depends on how you chose to run it, whether to mix it up with pleasure and love or strictly business!
I'm an entrepreneur and a growing one at that, I know a lot of things might not be right yet when it comes to business-wise but trust me when I say I've never mixed my business with love or pleasure. Whenever I find a client in my siblings, friends and family, I make sure to attend to them like I'd attend to an outsider or a first time customer, and in that case, I'd always chip in words like "This is business".
I make handmade footwears and bags so it attracted quite a number of family members before the outsiders were gradually attracted and introduced to my handwork. It was a nice one selling your products for your own personal people but at the same time, the rate at which they price it down is alarming. They usually use the phrase "o se emi nkan?" meaning "because it's me (your family and Friend) buying from you, can't you bring down the price", and it's always to a very ridiculous rate. And the most annoying part is that they always feel so entitled to a huge discount rate.
I knew about this trend on time because I learned from my mum's experience on how her close friends almost ruin her business while we were growing up and ever since then, I made up my mind never to mix business up with either love or pleasure. The only thing I get to do is to give them minimal discounts that I'm sure won't hurt me in any way possible. This is also my advice to business owners, especially little business owners not to mix these things up if they really want to grow. I know my business is not where I want it to be but it's not where it used to be and I'm also happy I raised the standard already.
