Brazil is marked by many stories, mainly of struggles and the search for rights that we did not have before, but that after many battles, literally of blood or ideas, we managed to conquer new rights to exercise. One of these rights that I find very interesting and that has a certain connection with Hive today was the “Diretas Já” movement, which took place between 1983 and 1984 and was the popular movement that fought and pushed for the return of direct elections for president, which was a significant milestone in our history.
This story tells how the popular movement pressured the National Congress to approve an amendment called “Dante de Oliveira”, whose main objective was to reestablish the right to vote in presidential elections, after a turbulent period of military rule, which was between 1964 and 1985. During this period, presidents were chosen indirectly by the national congress, so the people no longer had the power to elect their highest representative. As a result, over the years, the movement emerged with a strong sense of reestablishing this right and truly restarting democracy in Brazil.
All of this showed that the strength of popular mobilization did indeed make sense and had a great effect, even if not directly. Popular pressure shows that it has the power to change the course of history in its country and, with that, it can shape a new future, winning rights and applying freedom of expression and choice for everyone. For Brazil, this movement was important, because it also pressured for the end of the military regime, and showed everyone that democracy is the best, where everyone can express their ideas and their vote has equal weight, to elect or choose what is best for everyone.
TRE-PRAll of this has affected the present, after all, Brazil is currently experiencing a complicated phase, where the rights to freedom of expression and regulation of social networks are on the agenda at all times, even though the current president was elected based on the vote, many do not know whether it was really legitimate and when we disagree with this, we are pressured as if we were committing a crime, but remembering that freedom of The expression is exactly that: my right to say whatever crazy thing I want, but I can say it and share it! So, for me, regulating social networks is as if we were losing a bit of the meaning of the Direct Elections Now.
That's why we have to remember this moment in the past when we fought for our right to vote, just as we should have the right to give our opinions, contest and express ourselves. Regulating social networks and letting the government tell us what I can or cannot share is a step backwards, a way of silencing us and, just as the military chose the president of Brazil based on their methods and the population couldn't do anything, implementing this censorship and regulation makes no sense in my opinion.
Finally, the connection with Hive is precisely the possibility we have of voting and choosing things, whether in a community, in a game or something like that. We can elect our representatives, vote on Splinterlands proposals or on witnesses who think like our ideas and thus, in a democratic way, we can contribute to the choices. Even though some profiles have enormous voting power, we can also fight to gain considerable voting power. In a dictatorship, we can't even have that. So, Hive is a place where we can choose our paths through votes, just like our possibility of electing a president with the return of “Diretas Já”!

O Brasil é marcado por muitas histórias, principalmente de lutas e busca de direitos que antes não tínhamos, mas que depois de muitas batalhas, literalmente de sangue ou de ideias, conseguimos conquistar novos direitos para exercer. Um destes direitos que acho bem interessante e que faz uma certa conexão hoje com a Hive, foi o movimento das “Diretas Já”, que ocorreu entre 1983 e 1984 e foi o movimento popular que lutou e pressionou pela volta das eleições diretas para presidente, sendo um grande marco significativo para a nossa história.
Essa história conta como o movimento popular pressionou o Congresso Nacional para aprovar uma emenda chamada “Dante de Oliveira”, que tinha como principal objetivo restabelecer o direito de votar nas eleições para presidente, após um período conturbado de regime militar, que foi entre 1964 e 1985. Então, durante este período, os presidentes eram escolhidos indiretamente pelo congresso nacional, então o povo não tinha mais esse poder de eleger seu representante máximo. Com isso, após os anos, o movimento surgiu com um forte senso de reestabelecer esse direito e fazer um verdadeiro reinício na democracia do Brasil.
Isso tudo mostrou que a força da mobilização popular fazia, sim, sentido e tinha um grande efeito, mesmo que não diretamente, a pressão popular mostra que tem força para mudar os rumos da história de seu país e com isso, consegue moldar um novo futuro, conquistando direitos e aplicando a liberdade de expressão e escolha para todos. Para o Brasil, esse movimento foi importante, pois também pressionou pelo fim do regime militar, mostrou para todos que a democracia é o melhor, onde cada um pode expor suas ideias e seu voto tem peso igual, para eleger ou escolher aquilo que é o melhor para todos.
TRE-PRTudo isso afetou o presente, afinal o Brasil hoje vive uma fase complicada também, onde os direitos de liberdade de expressão e regulamentação de redes sociais estão em pauta a todo momento, por mais que o atual presidente tenha sido eleito com base no voto, muitos não sabem dizer se foi realmente legitimo e quando discordamos disso, somos pressionados como se estivéssemos cometendo um crime, mas lembrando que a liberdade de expressão é justamente isso: o meu direito de falar a loucura que quiser, mas posso falar e compartilhar ela! Então, para mim, regulamentar redes sociais é como se estivéssemos perdendo um pouco do sentido das diretas já.
Por isso, temos que lembrar deste momento do passado de luta por nosso direito de votar, assim como devemos ter o direito de opinar, contestar e se expressar. Regulamentar redes sociais e deixar o governo dizer o que posso compartilhar ou não, é um retrocesso, uma forma de nos calar e assim como os militares escolhiam o presidente do Brasil por seus métodos e a população não podia fazer nada, realizar essa censura e regulamentação não faz sentido na minha opinião.
Por fim, a conexão com a Hive é justamente a possibilidade que temos de votar e eleger as coisas, seja numa comunidade, em um jogo ou coisas do tipo. Podemos eleger nossos representantes, votar em propostas do Splinterlands ou em testemunhas que pensam igual às nossas ideias e assim, de forma democrática podemos contribuir com as escolhas, mesmo que alguns perfis tenham um poder enorme de voto, nos também podemos lutar para conquistar um poder de voto considerável, em uma ditadura, nem isso podemos ter. Então, a Hive é um lugar onde podemos escolher os caminhos por meio de votos, igual à nossa possibilidade de eleger um presidente com a volta da “Diretas Já”!
