or you may probably end up not following it at all in any way?
Planning one's life or making a schedule of how we want our day to go is—to me—one way to keep reminded of the most important tasks of your life. You may end up not following everything that you wrote down, but I see it as very important to always have a list of the top 3 things you know you must do that would make it feel worth it at the end of the day.
This is literally the technique I use in my daily life. I try as much to wake up early in the morning, list out the most important tasks of the day aside from my important daily routines, and try as much to complete them. And truth be told, most times, I do not always complete all of them due to some distractions that may have occurred during the day.
Today was more of a typical example of not following my schedule, which I have planned for myself, but I made sure to touch on the necessary aspect of what really matters. I see my schedules as a way to help me shape my life and be aware of what is needed to be done. I am happy that technology has made reminders a lot easier.
I have Notion Calendar linked with Google Calendars that gives me mobile notifications when it is time for the next schedule or gives me reminders some minutes before or even as far as some hours before. I also make use of a smart watch that I use to set a reminder to end an activity that I am presently involved in so that I don't spend too much of time in it. Although that is based on the importance of that task and how much consequences not completing the task can have on me.
Since I have been using this method, I have found it easier to gain clarity on what I have to do, especially as the day begins because I wake up on most days to my goals. Previously I made use of sticky notes to write down my goals of the day, but now I have my whole-week plan schedule on my calendar, which I can go through. Since I use my PC very often, I have a sticky note application that reminds me to make sure I have gone through my necessary morning routine before actually doing anything on the PC.
I know I am not a robot and there will always be cases when I will not follow through and when my plans might need to change. This is why I don't make my schedule rigid so that it does not come so much as a pressure on me if I don't fulfil them.
At the end of the day, what I think really matters is knowing what works for you best and knowing how you can do the most important things that have the most influence in our lives and future.
