Yesterday was incredible! Being a judge for the Vibes Talent Hunt Show alongside my brothers @iyedrumz and @obaro, who are the hosts of the program. I wrote a post yesterday about my trip to Ajasin Adekunle University, Akungba; if you missed it, then you can read about it here.

The program was set to begin by 2 p.m., but we started 2:30pm and that was because we needed to give the contestants extra time to be around before we fully began, or else they would be disqualified for not making it in time. This was the reason why we chose to give a grace of an extra 30 minutes.

As the contestants began tropping in, they were instructed to sign in and receive their contestant number clips to be attached to their clothes. The contestants were called in according to their numbers to perform at the due time, but before the main competition started, we, the judges, made a rendition so that the audience could see that we are musically inclined and are not figurehead judges.

Here is a picture of us on stage.

I was on acoustic guitar because a lead guitar was not available and I could not take mine while travelling. It would be a lot of work to travel with my electric guitar, especially without a bag.

Obaro sang while he played the keyboard while Iye was on where he is best at, the drums, of course. We mounted the stage and gave the audience how a performance should be.

While I was playing the guitar, I really wished it was an electric guitar, and I had my effect pedal working, but unfortunately there was none to use, and my effect pedal had spoilt.

There were a lot of spaces I could have filled if I was with a lead guitar. I could not do much on the acoustic aside from playing chords because the microphone could not pick my guitar solos well.

At the end of our own presentation, we were able to engage with the audience and also get them to sing along with us. Obaro is a good performing artist; he did not just sing but also carried the audience along.

PRESENTATION OF PRIZES

Before the main competition started, the prizes were displayed once again to create awareness. Although this is not the final stage of the competition, but just the first stage. The final stage is this coming Saturday, in which two competitions will be held and winners will be selected after a lot of elimination processes.

For the contestants, we had 48 contestants sing yesterday and we allocated 3 minutes to each participant. To make the judging process and selection easy, we chose a score criteria in which the contestants will be selected. The score is determined by the total of marks each judge awards a contestant. It made it easy for us to reduce the number of contestants from 48 to 17. It was a difficult choice but we were able to finalise at a conclusion.

See you after Saturday to announce the winners of the show.

I can feel the tension in the atmosphere from the pictures. I've been in a situation like this before, and I would say auditioning is not for the weak
