QUALITY ENGAGEMENT Vs. QUALITY CONTENTS Vs. GAINING VISIBILITY ON HIVE

From my conversations with some newbies these past few days, it has given me the inspiration to write on this topic. First I need you to think and analyze something;

š’²š’½š‘’š“ƒ š“Žš‘œš“Š š‘œš“…š‘’š“ƒ š’¶ š’“š‘œš“Šš“‰š“Šš’·š‘’ š’¶š’øš’øš‘œš“Šš“ƒš“‰, š‘œš“‡ š’¶š“ƒ š’¾š“ƒš“ˆš“‰š’¶š‘”š“‡š’¶š“‚ š’¶š’øš’øš‘œš“Šš“ƒš“‰, š’¹š‘œ š“Žš‘œš“Š š’¾š“ƒš“ˆš“‰š’¶š“ƒš“‰š“š“Ž š‘”š‘’š“‰ š“š‘œš“‰s š‘œš’» š“š’¾š“€š‘’š“ˆ š’¶š“ƒš’¹ š’»š‘œš“š“š‘œš“Œs š’¶š’»š“‰š‘’š“‡ š“‡š‘’š’øš‘’š“ƒš“‰š“š“Ž š’暝‘œš’¾š“ƒš’¾š“ƒš‘” š“‰š’½š‘’ š“…š“š’¶š“‰š’»š‘œš“‡š“‚?

I know you know the answer to this already. In these platforms, we all need to work to get those likes and follows we want and the same goes for hive. The key to achieving these is by what my title says: Quality Engagement Vs. Quality Posting.

The issue newbies are facing at the moment is; What amount of energy should they put in either engagement and posting? Most of them would chose to post everyday because that is the only way they can make enough rewards and thereby focus less on engaging or don't put enough effort into relating and socializing with other people.

Why do you think Quality Posts Get Good Votes?

This is another question I have to ask, is it just about the post being quality that made it attract the attention and vote it gets. To personally answer this question, I would ask another question:

If you post a quality skit (video) on a newly opened social media account i.e. Instagram, Does it get likes and comments from a lot of people at that instance

The worst is when it comes to Youtube, it is tough to make it there even though your videos are very quality. I can bet there are a lot of quality contents and videos on youtube with very less visibility, and low attention. The ones you get to even see on search results are ones in which their accounts are grown and made.

So we can therefore settle that quality posts alone is not enough to get your posts all the votes it needs. then I guess you must be asking yourself: What is missing? what is needed to get those votes?

untitled.gif

What is missing is you BUILDING your VISIBILITY. Making the best quality posts on Hive doesn't mean you would get the highest reward on Hive. I would say to you that having a SUPERB Quality post with Low visibility can get you a Reward Payout of less than $1. THAT'S THE TRUTH!!!

SO DON'T FOCUS ON POSTING ALONE ā—ā—ā—

It's a total waste of time, stress and content, if you spend it on posting everyday on Hive and yet you struggle with visibility and engaging with other authors. Even me! I don't post everyday and it has its reasons and why is that?

untitled.gif

Making a Quality Content alone, requires time and effort put into it and not even adding up going about socializing on Hive and engaging with people. So ask your self this question?

šŸ”±šŸ‡Øā€ŒšŸ‡¦ā€ŒšŸ‡³ā€Œ šŸ‡¾ā€ŒšŸ‡“ā€ŒšŸ‡ŗā€Œ šŸ‡°ā€ŒšŸ‡Ŗā€ŒšŸ‡Ŗā€ŒšŸ‡µā€Œ šŸ‡¾ā€ŒšŸ‡“ā€ŒšŸ‡ŗā€ŒšŸ‡·ā€Œ šŸ‡Øā€ŒšŸ‡“ā€ŒšŸ‡³ā€ŒšŸ‡¹ā€ŒšŸ‡Ŗā€ŒšŸ‡³ā€ŒšŸ‡¹ā€ŒšŸ‡øā€Œ šŸ‡¶ā€ŒšŸ‡ŗā€ŒšŸ‡¦ā€ŒšŸ‡±ā€ŒšŸ‡®ā€ŒšŸ‡¹ā€ŒšŸ‡¾ā€Œ šŸ‡§ā€ŒšŸ‡¾ā€Œ šŸ‡µā€ŒšŸ‡“ā€ŒšŸ‡øā€ŒšŸ‡¹ā€ŒšŸ‡®ā€ŒšŸ‡³ā€ŒšŸ‡¬ā€Œ šŸ‡Ŗā€ŒšŸ‡»ā€ŒšŸ‡Ŗā€ŒšŸ‡·ā€ŒšŸ‡¾ā€ŒšŸ‡©ā€ŒšŸ‡¦ā€ŒšŸ‡¾ā€Œ?šŸ”±

This is one thing I have always asked myself even though I knew I had sure auto-vote on my account and even manual voting from curator friends because posting everyday with subpar quality content is not something to be comfortable with though it is tempting. At some point you might feel so low in life and want to share your mind and thoughts alone but how much can you present it to retain its quality.

Now, from the point I have gotten to, you must be asking yourself what makes a post quality?

šŸ”±šŸ”± WHAT MAKES A QUALITY POST?šŸ”±šŸ”±

To every curator, the quality put in a post is relative. The standard of a person can never be the same to that of another, so as we have different likes and dislikes. It is good to know that the general idea of a Quality Content is;

How much effort is placed and how the content add value to its Audience

This is the general idea of a quality content and what curators are in search of, but yet I repeat: Quality minus Visibility = Zero (Wasted Effort), especially when you are the type that post everyday on the chain.

untitled.gif

I am sure that I can guess the question you have in your mind right now. And this is it below šŸ‘‡

How do I gain Visibility?

šŸ”±šŸ”±šŸ”± GAINING VISIBILITY ON HIVE šŸ”±šŸ”±šŸ”±

You would agree with me that gaining visibility on any social media is a very tough one to do. Most especially when it comes to Instagram and Youtube, but do you know it is far more easier on Hive than you think.

To not get me wrong, I do not say it is easy to get visibility on Hive but in term of relation to other social media platforms, it is easier when compared to being on Hive. If you disagree, then:

You would need to google on the requirements you need to attain before you start making money on Youtube. You also need to check on how much level of influence you need to have gotten to start being paid for advertisement on Instagram.

But on Hive, in first intro post we see people cashing out $5 plus then how much more can they make in their remaining posts if they follow the right steps to gaining visibility while posting quality contents.

The first step in gaining visibility on Hive is:

  • Knowing Your Type of Content: As one of my teachers on Hive always say: Not everybody is a blogger but everyone has something to offer. These words are true on Hive. it is not everyone who comes here that are bloggers and great at writing but yet, we all have something we do, we have hobbies, we have something of value that we can showcase on the chain. It could be: Singing, Dancing, Sports, Art, Comedy or anything. So far it is a skill or an hobby it is something you can offer.
  • Knowing the Best Community for your type of Content: Communities was designed to build visibility to authors on Hive most especially when it comes to niche related topics. Publishing in a community helps in putting your content in place to the right type of audience who would love to consume your content. But yet, Publishing in a community is not enough to attain the visibility you need; Knowing how active the community is matters as well.

There are many communities on Hive that are related and almost of the same niche, it is best to publish in the one which you find most active in terms of engagement, rewards and community activities.

Doing this inclusively contributes to giving you the visibility that you deserve.

  • How well are you engaged in the Community you Publish In?: Have you asked yourself this question, are you engaged enough in community activities like; contests, and engaging with other authors in the community through comments? All these matters in getting you known by moderators of the community. If you post often in the community or most importantly, you interact well with others in the community, you would get noticed and hence visibility is achieved.

untitled.gif

  • Explore Communities and Do not keep your balls in one Basket: As much as you have gained visibility in a community does not mean that you should think you have finally arrived. There are over a hundred communities on Hive, find the active ones and the ones you know you can try out.

It is easy to get comfortable in a particular community most especially when that is the only place your content is appreciated the most. I get the feeling and I have felt it too, but truth be told; where you think that is most favorable for you, there is always some place better! Then keep exploring...

untitled.gif
Powered by Tenor

Yeah, an Adventure! Take it as an adventure, like the Captain of a pirate ship constantly in search of a map that locates an hidden treasure. There are always more Islands with greater treasures to find.

  • Are you using the right tags involved: Just like twitter, hash tags are like topics related to your post but it is more than that on Hive. Tags can link you between community tribes without having to post the same content again in those communities.

We have tribes like the #proofofbrain #leofinance and the others which might be related to what ever content we make. Using these tags appropriately would let your content be featured in the community frontend. That way, visibility is attained but does it still ends there?

untitled.gif
Powered by Tenor

No, your engagement in those tribes you link to your post matters as well. Though the quality of your post matters but having good engagement in those tribes as well brings added advantage.

I know we cannot be everywhere at the same time, so I have provided options on ways on how to bring visibility to your content. You should know that when you fall sick, and you take a medicine to cure your illness, the medicine does not work immediately after you use it, you give it time to process. The same thing goes to these tips; you don't expect trying it only once for you to gain visibility on your post. You have to be consistent with it and most importantly, TRUST THE PROCESS!!!

untitled.gif
Powered by Tenor

  • Are you writing on what is trending in that Community?: One of the things I have gotten to notice is writing about topics that are trending in a community; this can actually get your post noticed. This is very common in the Leofinance Community.

Of recent, you would know that PolyCub has been trending in the community and posts about PolyCub have been receiving good upvotes. This is very similar to partaking in community activities as mentioned earlier; When you see a topic trending in a community, get to see what it is about and share your thoughts about it too.

untitled.gif

NOTE: All these would be of no use if you don't go about engaging on related posts on such topics

šŸ”±šŸ”±šŸ”±šŸ”± QUALITY ENGAGEMENT šŸ”±šŸ”±šŸ”±šŸ”±

I know you must have been hearing engagement from the beginning of this article to this very point and you may be thinking, what exactly is this engagement we have been talking about. It is simply just about socializing with others on the chain and building relationships. Yes, you cannot be friends with everybody but yet you can be known by everybody šŸ˜…; Engagement does that trick.

What makes your engagement quality is when it is genuine and is interactive; Not just a very short comment that looks spam-my and does not relate to what the author talks about. Your form of engagement (comment) also determines your relationship with the author: there are some words that someone who is close would understand compared to someone who is not close to you.

I read a post from someone saying:

Why is there focus on Engagement and Quality is Ignored?

The truth is on Hive, Quality is not ignored and the reason why there is a lot of focus on engagement is that it brings out your quality content to those who would appreciate it.

A simple example to this scenario is just like; An artist who makes beautiful art works and wants to be paid, be given commissioned art works but yet doesn't take his artworks out to the public to see it, doesn't speak to people to check out his artworks and doesn't interact at all but yet says since he makes beautiful artwork, people should naturally come to patronize him.

Life doesn't work that way, having a talent or skill is not enough to make it for you but reaching out to people, making friends and building an audience. That is why I said earlier in this post that Quality without Visibility or Engagement is Zero.

untitled.gif
Powered By Tenor

It is just the bitter truth, and Hive works like the way Life works as well. You cannot compare yourself with others who receive more votes with a less quality post than yours. You don't know what contact or connect they have built along the way.

You should not feel entitled to vote from people either, but yet be grateful if we get them. Feeling entitled brings laziness to work and seeing the clearer picture of why engagement matters.

I believe I have taken a lot of time to discuss on various topics that is important to the growth of everyone (newbies especially) on Hive including me, and I hope this message would come helpful to you.
Would appreciate your reblog and comments. Thank you!

Very insightful tips to frequently asked questions in my mind and I got the needed answers

Lol.. see me, I am a magician and mind reader. I have read your mind before you even thought of it šŸ˜…

untitled.gif

This post right here was the first piece of advice I got when I got on hive, engage as much as you can, and I have really found it to be very useful, within a few weeks and months of being on hive I got a little bit of visibility and that has helped me grow.

This is a very elaborate work starstrings... well appreciated

The person who gave you that advice must be an experienced Hiver that knows how much important engagement is for our growth on Hive. I really appreciate your comment on this post. Thank you!

He sure is o

Exactly what i needed

Now you have it!

This article is very useful and I really like it.

Thank you for this article! it is a good one!

I appreciate your nice words...

Wow! I didn't get bored or exhausted while reading this. Well expressed and understood, now I must engage more rather than focusing solely on writing content on a daily basis. Thank you for your thoughtful content,it is greatly appreciated.

I am glad you didn't feel exhausted while reading this.. means my efforts were not waste. Thanks for your nice comments man!

Thank you so much for this enlightenment @starstrings01. I'll do well to follow these guidelines.

I really have a lot to learn on hive platform.šŸ˜

Yeah but this article must have helped you understand some terms I suppose.

Yes it has opened my idea to everything I need. I just got verified today and I am so happy to be a member. I donā€™t know if there is any weekly homework I could join in doing. My hobbies and the child hood memories related homework has reached its deadline. Could I still join any? @starstrings01

I am glad you found the article useful.. Thank you!

@starstrings01 This was detailed from A-Z. What you said about Quality without visibility or engagement equals zero is just the truth.

When I newly joined Hive, I barely engaged and was all about posting,I couldn't understand why my posts weren't doing so well despite how much time and energy I put into making them.

I'm not quite where I want to be in terms of engagement, but I'm making progress.

Thank you for this!

yeah, even me, I am not where I want to be in terms engagement as well and also making progress. We all just need to keep making progress.

I am glad that you found this post helpful.

This article is for me, the content has giving me the answer to all my questions I'm really grateful for taking your time to explain it vividly.

You are welcome! I am glad it is still helping others after many months.

In reality, I feel the divide or the differences are only a mirage, networking, building solid personal non-monetary relationship, is what eventually takes one farthest. All in all, this is post is vast, which is why I am @tipu curate

Yeah, non monetarily relationship helps a lot. Boss I thank you so much for always being of support. Thank you!

This is so very helpful! There's a lot to think about. I am sure it will make me a much better 'hivian'

Yes it is so true how valuable engagement really is... I noticed it the few times I first tried it and to my greatest surprise I got people like THEYCALLMEDAN to upvote my content

But honestly speaking vast majority of us are too lazy to read people's contents in order to engage, I first fell short of that till I asked myself WHAT IF OTHERS ARE ALSO TOO LAZY TO READ MINE? How will I get supports

And that's when I started a better relationship building and increased my engagement... I do hope to do more... Thanks for the info you did an awesome job šŸ˜‡šŸ˜‡

Smiles.. laziness to read people's content cause low quality comment.

Yeah, true engaging with others would bring them to read yours too.

We pray for strength oo šŸ˜‡

This says all the problems I have been having in the hive communities, I noticed how others get support and wonder why mine got ignored, this at times might lead to discouragement but as the writer said "engagement matters more than the post", I believe engaging and getting known on most communities is the key to achieving's miles in the system.

Hope it gets better from here on!!

A well detailed guide..

Yeah it would surely get better if you follow up with the guide.

I am glad you found this article resourceful!

The fact that I know most of these and itā€™s now being confirmed means I really need to work on myself.

Thanks for sharing boss. Really helpful

Hello @starstrings01 I so much appreciate this wonderful piece here on hive learner's.

I am a kind of person that I do feel lazy to engage on people's post. I think, I will wake up from my sleep and start to do something reasonable.

I wanted to asked, what visibility means on hive but you have explained it to my understanding and I am also satisfied.

We have tribes like the #proofofbrain #leofinance and the others which might be related to what ever content we make. Using these tags appropriately would let your content be featured in the community frontend. That way, visibility is attained but does it still ends there?

I want to asked a question concerning what you have stated here.
Tagging this tribe 'Leofinance' as one of my tags in my post wouldn't I get downvoted if I don't publish content on cryptocurrency or polyCUB?

If your post is related to finance, it would not be downvoted. It does not necessary have to be crypto or polycub.

Alright, thank you @starstrings01 for your response.

Wow, thank you so much for investing a lot of time 0and sweat to creating this. It's very helpful and encouraging that hive newcomers won't be lost in oblivion on their arrival because of such hive manuals like this. Other centralised social media platforms are not as privileged as Hive is, to have extensive and well explained guides for newbies. This is a great blessing.

I joined hive a month ago and I can say it wasn't so easy as expected but last week, I really got into the spirit of engagement and I've seen a huge difference and learnt a whole lot too. People want to know that their content meant something to you, they want to know your thoughts about it, yes, there are a lot of quality contents on hive that need audience, it won't hurt to let someone know how important their contents are by engaging with them. Just like the Bible says, he who waters will himself be watered.

Thanks again sir @starstrings01 and all other amazing Hivers who offer great newbie guides like this.

Niceā€¦ thanks for such a wonderful comment. I am glad that this guide is helpful to you as a newbie. I made it because there were so many questions on this topic.

there are a lot of quality contents on hive that need audience, it won't hurt to let someone know how important their contents are by engaging with them.

Exactly, I like the fact that you said this. Your quote from the bible is also very right; do to others as so you want others to do unto you.

The "Oga" himself has spoken šŸ‘
Thank you Sir. It was really an honour.

I am glad I came across this post. Of recent, I have seen the need for consistent engagement and I am thus channeling my efforts in that regard, not however ignoring quality contents.
And I am ready to trust the process and not be in a haste to get that visibility overnight.
Thank you for this helpful article.

Mehn thanks a lot @starstrings01 for this exposition. I really appreciate the amount of thoughtfulness and effort invested in this post. Now I see why you're a moderator. Everything you've said is true. We just lack patience. That's it. This stuff does take time. I'm a newbie on this hive platform. My friends introduced me to this platform that's @merit.ahama and @brightdavid. I engaged a little. I left the platform for a long time, but now I'm back. For me, there's so much I need to learn. I need to familiarize myself with a lot of things as regards the communities and the like. Like you said, it's about creating valuable content and engaging, and I know that these things take time. But as humans, we grow weary sometimes, and that's where things go sideways. Right now, my mindset has shifted as I look forward to really connecting with a reader. Every other benefit comes naturally. I just feel I should write to just one person. only one person is enough, then you keep building on that. It is not easy to write, but developing empathy is really key. I do feel so many persons just need to familiarize themselves with this platform, even as I am trying to get a grasp on it too. One key problem we face, because I do battle with it, is the lack of real empathetic connection. Is it just for the money alone, or do you want to build something special that eventually leads to financial benefits? This question is hard because when you answer it, it tilts you in one direction and the outcome you're going to face is different. Sorry for my long speech. I know it's boring, but thanks for this @starstrings01. I think I'll need some guidance from you and lots of questions to ask as regards this platform. Gracias

Thank you for this post, as a newbie this will be really helpful.

Good morning Sir.I am Chioma from Nigeria I love this post so much though don't have much power to vote.Thank you Sir I gained alot from this

Checked your profile out and saw you needed some resource credits. Delegated you 30 HP. That would help you out to comment and post often.

Thank you so much Sir.You are such a gentle Man.Thank you once more Sir

Well said everything to the point.
Just getting enough knowledge from your post. Engagement is the key of success in this platform i also believe that.
Everyone should aware on this topics.
Thanks professor ā£ļø

Engagement is the key! Building relationships is as much more important as writing quality contents..

Yeah it's true āœØ

This is helpful, at times what we need to hear, may be all around us, yet we did not know.
Thank you for this piece.

Wow....this is great and super helpful. In short, its the book of life one Hive šŸ˜Š. I will apply the lessons here and hope for a fruitful journey on hiveāœŒ. Thank you so much Sir

Nice content...i see you more as a mentor not just an author.....reading through your post I noticed you talked about some of my weaknesses which I am gonna work on...thanks for being the mirror that helped me in see my reflection.
Thanks šŸ¤

You are welcome, I am glad that this post was helpful. I appreciate your nice words.

This is very true, thank you very much sir I really really appreciate and also gained a lot from this.
Thank you once again

Thanks for this bro... This answers a lot of my questions. I can only hope it works for me as I try to apply these tips, cos it can get really frustrating, enough to have made me take a break from hive twice

Boy! I can imagine the insane amount of time it took to gather these thoughts into this post. Not to talk of searching for all those GIFS. I want to be like you when I grow up @starstrings01

Besides, how do I add these GIFs to my content? Where do you get them from?

Yeah, this post took me a lot of time to compile and I am glad it was worth it. The GIFs was placed to give life to the article and it did just well.

In your peakd editor, you would see GIF, it is even available on your keypad, you should check it out.

Oh. Many thanks.

Great post everything is well explained.
Thank you for your kind words and information, it will be helpful for me!

Woow, this is really detailed and educative. Thank you for sharing

You are welcome... Glad it was helpful!

Thanks for sharing this post, my friend.

For a while, I did not understand this part of socializing, not so much the commitment, but to making community, to integrate and creating those bonds that unite us by the things we have in common, the things we like.

I think you are very clear with the example of the great artist, if he does not create bonds of friendship or does not make himself known, he will never be able to sell any work.

Yeah the scenario I made was to help making it easy to understand the importance of engagement and I am glad you could relate to it.

I am glad you liked the post.

At the initial most will not understand this pitfall and it' is the reason most of the awesome writters left the platform because they weren't properly oriented on this part... Imagine creating your most quality content and 3days later you're just seeing 0.08 as reward.

This post should be archived and shown to every newbie.

I have had all these questions and encountered all the situations too, with zero posts as well, despite quality, there were some shit posts too at the beginning. All of these tip changed the game for me. Thanks Chief.

I am glad that you see these tips helpful.. good your game is changed to a better one!

Such a nice insight, sir. I was hobering over youtube, google to know the tips and tricks of becoming a successful hivian. This post has cleared my many doubts. These days I was only focusing to make good content which had cost me many working hours, but I didn't get enough response. Now I understand why it is so. The best inspiring line of this post which I have already written in my dairy goes by
"Quality without visibility is Zero"

Quality minus visibility is Zero, a very true word that should be taken note of.. Anyways, I am glad you found this post helpful..

Wow..
What a post, so so helpful.
Read every bit of it.
You made some really good points here that a lot of people don't know about.
This post have Enlightened me and opened my eyes to a lot of things.
Thank you for this..

I am glad the post came helpful.. The pleasure is mine.

You have said everything we all need and while reading, I can relate to it too because I wasnĀ“t that active on hive especially posting in communities that arenĀ“t active but when I made enquiry, I was told many things and for some months now, I have seen the difference and changes. Posting in the right communities matters on this platform, likewise putting more efforts to engagement. Without these tricks and others, one will just keep working and itĀ“s a waste.

Exactly! These tips helps to give direction and make authors not waste their efforts. I am glad you saw the points in this post

I started hiving this January, and I've tried all my best to be getting good upvotes but seems like I'm pouring water in a basket. Good a thing I saw this post. I'm definitely going to try all this you've just put down here.****

Wow! This is really great, with this I have been able to learn a lot as a newbie thank you so much for giving the opportunity to allow people grow and learn what they have been missing, this is a leadership skill and I appreciate that a lot šŸ™ thank you for sharing this with us all ā¤ļø

I am very glad! Just follow the process and you would do well!

Alright!
Thank you very much šŸ™‡ā€ā™‚ļø

Oh my! This is just so educative and explanatory enough. What Iā€™ve learnt in this post and obviously the message passing across is that quality engagement brings about gaining visibility. Itā€™s not all about posting contents all the time.

Truth be told, when I first got started on hive, I thought itā€™s about posting content (quality) that matters but thanks to those that brought me on board, @temibot, @monioluwa and @starstrings01 inclusive made me to know that I need to engage on peopleā€™s post, to build up good relationship.

And now with this I read now, I can liken it to this factor in marketing, the KLT factor. (Know, Like and Trust). Meaning in simple term here that, I need to know more people (engaging), building good relationship rapport (Like) and then trusting me enough to give out quality content (Trust).

@starstrings01 I appreciate your efforts in giving out this value to the newbies on hive, thereby making us have a clearer understanding of how things work here. I found this helpful at this time and will start building on it.

But, I will like to ask a question before I go, in a case where I tend to follow people that have gained their visibility here and they are yet to follow back or something that looks like they are not going to follow back. What should be done in that case?

I thought you were an animal scientist, when did you switch to marketing? šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚

It's nice that you're getting a hang of everything. And I'm sorry for not always being available at all times. I can see @temibot is doing a good job with you though. You guys should keep it up.

I thought you were an animal scientist, when did you switch to marketing? šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚

I tire o. I had to rib my eyes like 7 times before I could believe this..šŸ˜€ @temmyttee i need to learn at thy feet..šŸ™‡šŸ™‡

You too?šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ you people should stop this whining nah.

thought you were an animal scientist, when did you switch to marketing?

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
Yeah! All together ni. I will use Marketing strategy to market my animals to the prospects nah.

I'm sorry for not always being available at all times.

Itā€™s fine... I understand the fact that you are always busy.

Yeah! All together ni. I will use Marketing strategy to market my animals to the prospects nah.

Eh, see wisdom. šŸ¤²šŸ¤²
I celebrate your grace.
I tap from it. šŸ™ŒšŸ™Œ

In a case where I tend to follow people that have gained their visibility here and they are yet to follow back or something that looks like they are not going to follow back. What should be done in that case?

Beautiful question here!

Truth is, them not following now do not mean they would never follow you. Is just that they have not seen something of value you have to offer them or have not built a relationship with them.

Why would an Influencer want to follow back at someone on Social Media?

There are two answers to that question

  • The person has a content that gives Value

  • or The person has built a relationship by constant engagement with the influencer.

I have met people on the chain that it took me months of constant engaging on their posts before they considered following back. It was not easy but they would finally when you start making "Interactive Engagement" with them on their posts. Because no how they would be forced to check out on your profile.

Wow... thanks for these answers and itā€™s the truth tho. I will work on what youā€™ve just pointed out.

Thanks boss!

A must read so let's spread it out :) I can totally agree with these, most especially the engagement. I committed the number one mistake when I started besides not knowing how Hive really works. I hope this will get the attention of those who are just starting so they will have an easier, smoother journey.

You are not alone on the mistakes. I committed same as well but I got to understand with the help of people I came across on Hive..

I hope this will get the attention of those who are just starting so they will have an easier, smoother journey.

If it gets a lot of reblogs, then it would go wide faster to reach more people.

That's what is so nice about the Hive community because people are ready to help others too. I have reblogged an tweeted about this and hopefully others will do the same :)

This really explained to me the tricks around the community
Let me start working on my VISIBILITY ASAP
Thanks for sharing

Great you found this article helpful.. you should start working on it. The pleasure is mine!

No one could have sound it any better than @starstrings01, well said man. In life, in other to attain greatness then you must put in great work. Great content is built from the amount of time put into it. This post was a great read, honestly speaking it's something everyone should read. This post might have been uploaded or shared 4 months ago but it's something that will refresh the mind every single day. Thanks for sharing something this amazing.

Yeah it is! I read it myself sometimes when I need to refuel my own energy. Knowledge is never too old, it is also useful to the writer itself!

That is very true. Even if you are the content creator, sometimes revisiting your content gives you a reminder of what your principles are and what you stand to offer not just to people around but also to yourself. Knowledge is an asset for me, it's always profitable.

Wow!!!! I must say you're an amazing person, you took your time to emphasize on this very this. This is really great, filled with great facts. As a newbie I'm not in a rush for anything,I know with time I'll probably get to where I wish to be,like this likes of you, like the intelligent and amazing people here on this platform. One needs patience to be able to grow very well,at time it might require some couple of years to get there. I'll always use the tactics an elder told me( if you want to succeed in life then don't expect too much from anyone) that's just it,by just posting everyday doesn't actually guarantee you immediate success so you shouldn't be expecting it. Just try your possible best to make put in more time, be consistent in engagement,it matters a lot. Anyways thanks for your words of wisdom,I hope you hide it from Mr sapa shašŸ¤£,that guy is an enemy of progress, he might go to the extent of hiding such wonderful content from people like us that actually needs itšŸ¤£, I'm just so happy I found this, it's really helped me a lot. Once again thank you!šŸ™‡

Lol... Sapa has got nothing to do on you now... I am glad you found this post, I wish you the best Hive got to offer!

Thanks a lot, wish you the same too

Oh, now I totally understand and I am ashamed of my action being judgemental of others receiving up votes more but the post is lesser quality than mine. You are right, they already build their reputation and they are known in the community. I should do the same. I should learn some more, find the topic I am good at and engage to be visible.

Now you have gotten the whole point and how the system works. I believe you would do better if you follow these advice.

Glad you read the article! Hope it helps make your journey smoother.

You did!! Oh my, I'm so ashamed of myself to assume and judge others. I will just focus on building my own while learning everyday!! You really did help me a lot!!

Feel free to reach out when you need my thoughts or advice. I am a comment away... By the way, you should consider applying to this initiative...

It's an initiative I run to mentor new people in Hive... The application is ending soon.

Thank you very much bro... This is will really go a long way. Thank you very much for your mentorship and support

I am glad the post came helpful... I am always ready to help.

AhhhhhhšŸ™†šŸ™‡šŸ™‡šŸ™‡šŸ™‡ respect is all I can say, I really appreciate all you've said,

I believe I have taken a lot of time to discuss on various topics that is important to the growth of everyone (newbies especially) on Hive including me, and I hope this message would come helpful to you.

you've answered most if the questions I ask my self and all the answers are true.

Thank you so much for sharing this.
Truly, you cannot sell well without building a good reputation for quality and visibility through great engagement. You cannot just drop something and poof you're off, without relating with people, and then expect growth, no nah.
Checking out communities, relating to other creators there and their content too, and reacting goes a long way.
Big things started small. Just trust the process and be consistent.
I will definitely adhere to this golden advice and try to do better.

Exactly! You have understood everything explained here and gave a simplified explanation of what I said. Weldone man! Which you luck in your journey on Hive.

Baba, you are such a dynamite, am new here and your marvelous post is such an eyes opener.
A good write-up hollašŸ™‹šŸ™‹ at you bro, more šŸ’ŖšŸ’Ŗ to your elbow

thanks a lot brother... it is good to have you on Hive.

you should follow @newbies-hive, it is a training hub for people who newly joins Hive.

Thanks for the link @starstrings01 from what I have seen so far am kinda convinced that you are one of the best tutors here, more poweršŸ’Ŗ to your elbows bro

You've done justice to this topic. Thank you for addressing it. Many newbies need to know this.

Just like every other social media platform, you have to communicate with people. Let people know you exist. It's not just about making posts. You have to get more eyes to see your post.

Just like in business, you put a product up for sale but you are not making any sale, why is that, one of the causes is because you have very limited eyes seeing your product. So all you have to do is run crazy ads, let your product be what they see when they turn left and right.

The same thing applies to hive, the difference is that the ad you are running here is by engaging with people. You are advertising yourself in other people's comment sections.

When a person comments on my post, I subconsciously click on their profile to see more of their works. Especially if the person leaves a reasonable, valuable, or encouraging comment.

On LinkedIn, whenever I engage in
person's comment section few minutes/hours later I will receive notifications that so so person viewed your profile. So somehow it is like a subconscious act for a person to want to know more about you after viewing your comment.

So, there is power in meaningful engagement.

I do love the gifs you made use of, it is much better than images sef.

You exactly see the point. Just the way it is on Hive so as is the important of engagement is in other platforms as well.

Thanks very much about your comment on the GIFs. I didn't want my post to be dry so I felt the only way to give it life is through the GIFs.

You sure got us entertained with the GIFs. Thank you

I am glad I did so. The pleasure is mine!

I have to agree that engagement is definitely something that I would never refuse. The dollar value of the post is just a number and it doesn't really mean people care that much. The visibility of the user is definitely something that people need to work on and I actually think Listnerds is a great way to make your post visible.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Lol truth! It doesn't mean people care as that.

But what's Listnerds?

Listnerds is a blockchain mailer made by the people in the CTP community. There are a lot of people from Hive over there so they tend to drop by people's posts quite often (if you link it) and a few of them will even drop comments. On top of that, you can even earn some crypto for reading and upvoting mail there.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Can anyone vistit Listnerds ?

Yeah he dropped a link to visit the site.

I'm off to view it then....

Yeah they don't care about the post most times, some don't even read through... All they do is drop a pinch of upvotes

Allot times I prefer my content to be bubbling with comments rather

Smiles, some people are just pure curators. They only vote and rarely intercede in post conversations.

Yeah it is frustrating most especially when you do not understand how it works. I have felt that frustration too, that's why I am in a better place to say how the system is.

I see you're amazing I saw your name was mentioned by @hopestylist what she said on her post was right you're very helpful when it come to newbies and the post you make is very informative and compact.

Will follow and check your post out from now on. Thanks @hopestylist if you didn't mention him I would never found this hive veteran.

!ALIVE

@starstrings01! You Are Alive so I just staked 0.1 $ALIVE to your account on behalf of @caelum1infernum. (9/10)

The tip has been paid for by the We Are Alive Tribe through the earnings on @alive.chat, feel free to swing by our daily chat any time you want.

Yes, he's my favorite author now because he earned it and I'm glad you really stopped by like you promised.

Of course I will I just wish I have more time everything I do here in hive is chasing time like the other day I wrote for a contest but I wrote it on my 1 hour break time while I was eating and writing at the same time šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ in the end I read the rules wrong so I got disqualified from the contest šŸ¤£

Yes I saw that and it's really sad you didn't get the chance to re-enter for the contest. Now next time you will have to be more careful when reading the rules of any contest. But I did enjoy reading your post either ways.

It's ok šŸ˜… I just join contest on my day off when I have the whole day to myself at least I can read properly while I'm in relax mode not rushing like right now as well haha šŸ˜…

Thank you for your kind words glad you enjoyed it.

Yes you should do that, you will do well henceforth.

It's my pleasure @caelum1infernum, you are welcome.

A lot of good tips in here! Preach it!

Your stay in prison will not be fun @battleaxe and friends. People are going to want you dead when they find out what you did. I hope you die a slow painful death. You sick mother fuckers.

Its a terrorist act on American soil while some say its not real or Im a mental case. Many know its real. This is an ignored detrimental to humanity domestic and foreign threat. Ask informed soldiers in the American military what their oath is and tell them about the day you asked me why. Nobody has I guess. Maybe someone told ill informed soldiers they cant protect America from military leaders in control with ill intent. How do we protect locked up soldiers from telling the truth?

Quality minus Visibility = Zero

A wasted effort indeed! I've been a victim of this and will not remain the same after reading through this informative piece!
Thanks for the guidance @starstrings01

You are welcome... I am glad you found the post helpful.

Yea! Thanks for sharing..

It is such a comprehensive guide you have provided here @starstrings01. Bravo.....!

If I have to summarise it I would say "Quality engagement comes before quality posting. Engage as much as you can."

You have said it right the posting your own content feels tempting. It happens to me. I have limited time to spend on Hive. I can either engage or post. I have been struggling to increase engagement, yet I am not vey much successful. I feel like if I didn't post in a certain topic, I would lose all my thoughts about it and won't be able to write it again. However, I have decided to write lesser so that I can consume my time in engagement. After all, what is the worth of writing when there is no one to read it.

The truth is Hive is much more about quality relations than about quality writing. And the relationships are built only by engagement. Even if you are an average writer but you have goy people who like you because you always visit, read and respond to their content, you would get higher upvotes.

Thanks for such a wonderful guide šŸŒ·

I feel like if I didn't post in a certain topic, I would lose all my thoughts about it and won't be able to write it again

I'll suggest you create the content and use post schedule for posting is, this may be better than loosing it and it will also give you good time to engage while post is loading for those you've supported to see... just a suggest

Thanks for the suggestion. But the problem is if I spend that time in writing, I have no time for commenting. And if I spend time in engaging, I have no time for writing the post

Contradicting šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚, but just try and devote a day for real engaging no posting... Just like I'm doing today and Sundays that I'm mostly Free

Yeaaaah! This is what I have decided now

Awesome šŸ˜‡šŸ˜‡

"Quality engagement comes before quality posting. Engage as much as you can."

Exactly the point of this post!

what is the worth of writing when there is no one to read it.

I have thought about this statement so many times. And it's something worth asking oneself.

The truth is Hive is much more about quality relations than about quality writing. And the relationships are built only by engagement.

It's not just about Hive alone, but above life itself. Relationships and connections matters to be successful in life.

Even if you are an average writer but you have goy people who like you because you always visit, read and respond to their content, you would get higher upvotes.

There is no lie in this. This is blunt truth!

Thanks for your wonderful comment @amberkashif.

It's not just about Hive alone, but above life itself. Relationships and connections matters to be successful in life

That's true. Popularity and relationship matter in all realms of life.

It's my pleasure to be on your post @starstrings01

Indeed this information was helpful and I grabbed a lot of things which I will be asking some questions Here so please get ready @starstrings01
You said that exploring in other communities is not a bad idea which you made it easy saying by using tags we appear at the frontend on the community post. Now my real question is: Can we also engage peoples post in other communities? And again you said something about engaging peoples post but no making it look like a Spam. I don't think given a short note on someone post should be seen as spam what if the person now decided to engage someones post with the intention of making long and it is not making sense? Am not saying you are not making a point in all these but I need you to answer thses questions.

Can we also engage peoples post in other communities?

Yes, why not?.. you can engage in any community.

Talking about engaging with people. Comment like: nice post, you did well, I like your post and other non interactive comments are spams.

Comments doesn't have to be necessarily long but needs to be something that is interactive and gives value back to the author. Also it has to be meaningful and makes sense to the author.

Is it okay for me to post on other communities, or I should just focus on one community, or maybe I should just use tags so as to appear on their frontend.

Do what you think is best for you!

Okay I will thank you a lot for the support @starstrings01

This is well said.
Just like life itself, everything takes a gradual process, even being able to post daily takes a gradual process, same as engaging and gaining visibility.

In other to gain visibility, engagement is important.

We are getting paid here so it's our duty as hivers to work if we want to earn.

Posting every day without engaging with others on the chain is sure a waste of time, apart from the fact that there won't be many rewards on the post, not having people to come to visit your post and give their feedback and opinion on the post is discouraging in a way.

The only way to truly enjoy the platform is to have a connection with the users on the chain and this can be established by making genuine engagement and quality posting.

Thanks for sharing this piece.

not having people to come to visit your post and give their feedback and opinion on the post is discouraging in a way.

I know right, having no rewards and comments can give a bad mood.

Having friends in this platform would make our post interactive and likely bring more rewards.

Yeah.
The reward and comments are what we need and can be achieved through all that has been discussed in this post.

@starstrings01 As always, your contents, be it music or outright write up, comes with it, knowledge and inspiration.
Knowledge and inspiration are two elements that are so much needed by newbies.
I can say without flinching that you are simply the newbies master!
Kudos boss, we like what you are doing ooošŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ’ÆšŸ’ÆšŸ’Æ

Smiles.. brother, thanks so much for these words. I am just doing my best to be of help to these newbies and trying to make things better off for them.

I really appreciate your comments.

Thanks for sharing this amazing insight into hive community. As a newbies here this will be a great guide to me and I will also refer to this post. Inorder to buttress your point I've been on YouTube since 2017 and I have not make $1 since with a lot of amazing content but YouTube kept raising the bar. Currently to make money from YouTube you must have 1000 subscriber and 4000 watch hour this is hard to achieve for educational content. Thanks @starstrings01

My!

This post says it all..a lot of people are ignorant of these facts that's why they complain about not having enough votes or why their quality content didn't get upvoted.
I guess everything has a strategy and like you said hive's own is quite easy and straight forward (even if it takes a lot of discipline)..
Visibility is the order of the day and it can only been achieved through engagements..I can't can't count the amount of followers I've gotten through engagements talk more of connections. I know of a number of authors who have gained their way to the top quite easily through engagements.

I know that lack of votes can also kill your spirit but like you compared with other social media accounts, it takes time.. I'm certainly ready to put in all the effort and through the help of people like you and lot more others I see things becoming better.

I've never really been a fan of posting everyday but then if you have the luxury of auto votes and you know you need that money... milking all that gains wouldn't be a bad idea..posting everyday then wouldn't be a bad idea. Doesn't mean you shouldn't rest when you need to or feel blank..

This post is quite helpful..all Newbies should see and learn.. but then I can relate which some who don't have enough RC to get anywhere..like my bro @nelson-george , he's been really trying to grow his HP to up his engagement game.. they're a lot more like him..it can be hard then.. but I'm glad the hivelearners are making things a lot easier.

Great post ā¤ļøšŸ”„

A good engager, here.

Thanks a lot bro ā¤ļø

A very good student here. I have taken a cue from you now.
One thing that I think helps with engaging well is actually being genuine, free, open and uninhibited by popular opinion. I, myself, am trying to up my game with it. I truly feel glad to see people pour their hearts (one of the reasons I am glued to HIVE now) into their work and share it with the world. It in turn encourages me to do the same.
For the issues like low RC, I have had that experience today. I would have felt instantly discouraged if it had not been for great mentors like @starstrings01 come through for me. I am able to fire on because we have great people like him on this platform. šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ™‡šŸ™‡šŸ™‡

Lol.. thanks for the kind words man!

Yeah ..that's more like it, it's great to see that you share the same zeal, I can see that with the big smile on the face of your profile, I'm glad you got through the stage of low RC, you have enough power to fire away!..don't waste it...I'm sure you'll do pretty great..

Thanks for your great reply šŸ”„ā¤ļø

@starstrings01 you have said it all. We came in with the mentality of posting everyday and posting quality contents too. I like what you said about exploring in other communities. I tried exploring in the leofinance community and truth be told, I struggle to meet up in that frontend. I guess its because that's not my calling.šŸ˜‚.
Engaging does the trick but just like you said, it may not come immediately. I told myself that I will be engaging and post less for a period I have set for myself. That is because I want to create enough awareness in other communities first.
So what I got from your post is,

  1. Engagement
  2. Engagement
  3. Engagement
Because if you post a quality content, who will come and give you the upvote you want when they don't know you?

@hivelearners have been helpful to me. I have learnt a lot I need to grow in this community.
Thanks for this.

Because if you post a quality content, who will come and give you the upvote you want when they don't know you?

Exactly, that's the point. Who would give you. But that doesn't mean you should not post at all.

Time your posting and make it balance up with engagement. Because keeping up with creating your contents would make your followers know you are active.

Yeah, working with hive learners has helped me enough to support more newbies on Hive. I only just need to find ways to go across countries as well.

Thank you so much for this enlightening post! Iā€™m new on hive and I really needed guidance. Thank you!

I came upon this post at such a time that I need to learn about hive as a new hivean and it is very helpful. You have covered many things I need to know here. I will consistently apply them. Thanks.

Honestly, truth be told this post killed it all.

A question I have been longing to get answers for. Have heard people tell me I need to improve on my engagement to grow more on hive but I do not know how to go about it.

I felt asking questions won't be bad but I do not know if I would get an answer or not because have had to ask few people around here but not getting a detailed answer or sometimes not even getting an answer at all but trust me this post is indeed helpful, thank God I had to push myself to ask.

Very detailed and well explanatory even for the newest newbies.

Thank you so much @starstrings01 for taking out your time in posting this helpful content for people like me who has been finding it hard striving on this block chain. I am really grateful šŸ™

But permit me to ask a question, I know delegations to communities too helps in growing swiftly, which communities will you advice a person that is just growing on this block chain or a newbie to delegate to?

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us.

I'd like to thank @starstrings01 for this wonderful post.
This post contains excellent information worth more than $1,000, but it was given out for free to spread knowledge.

As a newbie on Hive, I've discovered the difference between quality engagement and quality posting as a new Hive. These two concepts fall under the category of "working hard."

Writing a quality post requires hard work, and writing quality engagement requires much more effort. The difference between the two is how quickly you can increase your rate of effort to stand out and succeed as a content creator on Hive.

Now that I realised that quality engagement will draw readers to your quality posting, thereby increasing your visibility and allowing you to communicate with other authors and curators.

Additionally, I must join active communities, take part in competitions, and engage meaningfully in every community to which I belong.

I will follow this step-by-step strategy and continue to learn from other authors.
Thank you once again for sharing your wisdom.

When one user referred to you as an old man in his post, I couldn't agree less. It's not every day we see a 2000+ words post here on Hive with everything on point! With memes to spice up the reading experience!

I've seen my role model.

You have summed up my recent observations of the blockchain in one beautiful post. Honestly, engagement is key, and quality engagement, sometimes everyone will act as if they didn't notice, but there is no harm in being that uninvited guest here on Hive, everything is open, so, no secret community.

Also, the efforts must be paired with time, I am guilty of this, but honestly, we should learn to wait, it is not easy to be patient, but time has a very huge role to play in any form of growth.

Also, sometimes, we may look at some people, and use our content to judge theirs, and conclude that something is unfair, they do not write long posts and may make up to 4 short posts per day, but they receive votes, steady. I think in this case, a lot of questions need to be asked and directed to ourselves. We may need to consider the length of time the person has been on the chain and the connections he/she has created.

Everything just boils down to quality: quality time, engagements, posts and connections.

Thanks for sharing! Gracias

When one user referred to you as an old man in his post

untitled.gif

Lol, Abeg which post and which user is that šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚.

It's not every day we see a 2000+ words post here on Hive with everything on point! With memes to spice up the reading experience!

Lol, I appreciate these comments. Thank you. The post two me two and a half days to sum up. Had to find breaks from my busy schedules to write this post as doing it in one sitting is quite impossible.

Also, the efforts must be paired with time, I am guilty of this, but honestly, we should learn to wait, it is not easy to be patient, but time has a very huge role to play in any form of growth.

This is so true. For me it took me a lot of crazy engagement before knowing people I know and most of them are not even from direct engagement. The people you know can connect you to other people as well.

Mine took me over 2 years of my stay on Hive to get to understand this. Imagine how that frustrating my first 2 years on Hive had been. Even after gotten to understand all this, it took almost a year to start seeing massive results from my engagement.

We may need to consider the length of time the person has been on the chain and the connections he/she has created.

This is the truth though. More time on the chain, more chance of connections they must have built.

Hmmmmmm, to start with; I must commend you for the big effort you put down in creating this content. The elaborate answers to newbies frequent questions and the creative GIFs....this is great! I can't thank you enough for all your useful contents so far, it has motivated me alot and kept me going in this blockchain.

Yes, you cannot be friends with everybody but yet you can be known by everybody šŸ˜…; Engagement does that trick.

I really understand this; that's the power of engagement .

Before now, I used to think that quality contents are those content that can add value to the readers and so should attract upvotes. Now the whole thing is becoming more clearer to me . I have also discovered that each time I engage much in a community , I get a reasonable votes through my comment and some followers too.

Like you said, building one's account here in hive is much easier than other social media , this is so true and from every indication , quality engagement do the tricks.

No wonder I see some posts atimes not necessarily with much effort but they still get a very high upvotes...I understand this , probably due to their rate of engagements and friends they have build on the blockchain .

I got numerous value reading this article , thank youšŸ’Ŗ

That's the point. Quality matters but yet, the engagement brings it to light.

Yeah true.. that relationship formed is what is paying forth.

Perhaps this is a wall of text but really worth my time. A beginner like me was enlightened by your insights about quality engagement as I reflect on it as genuine interaction.

No matter how quality the posts are if one does not value the power of engagement, surely it would always end up as null. I greatly believe that it is through interaction wherein we get to know everyone, even if naturally, not everyone comes here as a blogger but like what you have said, we do have different interests and we could share it in the best community.

The beginning is always the hardest. We all started with zero but we could always improve every single day through being consistent. Consistency is key while having real connections. It does not matter if one is not born as a blogger for what is more important is the ability to value others and other's work us well.

No one wants to be unappreciated. But surely, if we are learning to value the works of others, surely, we could also be visible by them, and through that way, we could build a connection from a single dot to a series of lines.

And that, posting daily may not be a requirement, but we could always do it regularly so followers would also keep track but, it would always make a great difference to post and interact through meaningful and relevant comments.

Thus, quality post and quality engagement equates excellence each other based on how I understand your content my dear friend, @starstrings01 . It is a matter of how one puts efforts in the community to establish oneself.

Know that this piece of content feels like a gold to me as I have learned a lot form your brilliant insights. I am very glad that I bumped with you today. I am always hungry for learning, and I always treat myself as a beginner. Saved this and I will be reading your other contents as well.

Thank you so much my dear friend. Have a great day and take care.

OMG!!! Thanks so much for the enlightenment Sir, I really appreciate it because it's so helpful for people like me as a newbie on Hive blockchain, from engagement and the right community, also being active in the community is well understood now. Actually, when I joined the blockchain I thought all that matters is quality post which I have being struggling with, but now I understand better with this post of yours that quality post plus engagement on the blockchain matters most.
My question is the issue with tribes and hashtag, it's a little bit complicated to me I will be glad if I can get help on it from you, thanks in anticipation.

First of all I'm a newbie. Thankfully the person who introduced me to the block chain @ginika , she told me how important it is to engage.

She said "you're joining Hive because you love to write, but you must also love to read because you must read and engage in other people's pieces as well"

It's give and take na. If you don't engage in other authors' pieces, who would engage in yours?

Thank you for throwing more light to this subject.

I am glad that I was able to throw some light. Thanks for leaving in a comment. I wish you the best on your journey in Hive.

Thank you! I also look forward to reading more quality content from you šŸ˜Š
