The first money I made for myself.

Hi everyone
Happy New week to you all, hope you're doing great?.
Can't believe it's a new week already, I want to appreciate the team behind this great initiative, for a great job so far.

First earning
Tell us about the first time you made money for yourself. I do not mean your first job, I mean the first time you did something and got paid for it. If in your case it's a job, then all the same. Tell us all about it, and how much you made?

Well I've always had a passion for hairdressing, it's something I like doing, but one thing I know is that I didn't pay money to learn it, I just found myself doing it.
As a child, I can still remember there was this doll that looks like barbie, that hair was just on the center of her head. Having that kind of doll even made things easier for me, if am going to get something and I see people that are making hair, I'll just stand there for some minutes and look at the style they're making then when I get home I'll make the same style for my doll.

Growing up in the kind of environment I grew up in, I was opportune to make children's hair, that was how I started, not like they pay me for it, they don't because I wanted to improve on my skill so the weekend's I'll just call any child that is close to me who's hair is bad, loose the child's old hair and make a new one for her, that was how I started. Mind you only with permission from their parents.

I was just doing it for fun, and to keep my weekends busy, the first one I earned money from or got paid for, was my neighbor's hair, that day I was just at home it was on a Saturday after washing my school uniform, she called me that she would like to make her hair, as an upcoming hairstylist I asked her the style she wants, then she told me and it was kind of simple to me so I wasn't scared, should I say a little.

So later that day she came, and I made the hair, she was even surprised we finished fast cause I was very fast, and the hair was fine sha😏, I know it was even if you don't believe me.

I've never been good when it comes to pricing, when she asked me how much because I know her very well, I said one thousand naira and she gave me the money, I was very happy, omo it was a big money for me then.

My mum advised me to use the money to get something for myself which I did, I bought a dress for myself you know when things weren't this expensive, that was how I spent the money.

Since then I've improved so much on my skill, and currently am a known hairstylist, it's something I fend from, something that pays the bills sometimes.
These are pictures of the hair I made last week and they were taken with my cousin's phone.

thank you for reading
Cheers🌹

Nice one Tarila. Like everyone else, most childhood projects and activities we show zest for usually comes with no financial incentives at the initial stage, but as time goes by, you know hard work and skills pays.

Yeah it does.
Thank you so much

I've been saying it that's its only me that doesn't know how to make hair. 😔 Lol
Abi that 1k those days was big money oh but my Mum will tell me to remove my Tithe and give her the rest to keep for me which as you know Nigeriqn mothers, I'll never see the money again 😌
