Our friends are who we are, they're a very big part of us. One of the things that excite me about life is the fact that I am still going to meet people who would change my life for the better but this post is not about the future, its about people we have met already, one person in particular, David.
Trying to get into the university in my country is a big hassle, getting out is an even bigger one. I met David after I got admitted into the university. I had to change departments because my results didn't meet up to the standard of the course I wanted to study. I was waiting under a huge tree waiting for the departmental head of the course I was transferring to to sign my transfer slip. Then came David, he also had the same problem I had. He walked over to me asking for an update on the matter.
He asks me why I was waiting there because he knew nobody would answer me if I just sat around waiting. He drags my slip and dashes into the office. I couldn't even say anything, I just sat there in shock. About thirty minutes later with both our slips signed. I would never know what he said in that office that day but whatever it was, it worked. He asked me to meet him there the next day so we could go to the dean's office together the next day.
I met him under the same tree. He held my hand like a little boy while we walked to the Dean's office. It was a bit embarrassing but he wouldn't let go. We got there and there was a huge line to the office. He started breathing hard, he brought out his inhaler making a very big scene there. People started giving way for us to reach the Dean's office so we could do what we came for and go home for him to rest. Other people offered to help him to the office but he insisted I take him.
We get into the office and he gets his slip signed. He then tells the dean I was his brother and I needed mine signed too. From that moment I knew we were going to be friends and we've been very close friends ever since. I can't count the number of times he has gotten me out of trouble and the number of times he has gotten me into trouble. They say everything happens for a reason and maybe one of the reasons I didn't get to study what I want was because I needed to meet David but I'm really glad I did and I love what I study now so much.
