It's a popular saying that if you stand for nothing then you will eventually fall for anything.
If you ask me what a code of conduct is, I will simply put it as a set of values, rules, standards, and principles stating how I will relate, interact, and flow with people around me.
Growing up, my eyes gradually opened to a lot of mysteries in life. Mysteries that I saw caused a whole lot of conflicts, and hatred and eventually created a drift between the closest of people. As a guy who never liked anything that disrupts his mental health, I came up with three core values I tend to live by. This has helped me avoid a lot of commotion amongst people. Yes, it has also made me look very stupid in the sight of others but who cares since it makes me avoid unnecessary conflicts and drama.
There were times that these principles of mine brought me unhappiness but I just had to suck it in because of what is at stake.
Most people might not accept my conduct but well, it's for me and not them. Below are my top three code of conduct/ moral codes, why I decided to stick to them, and some occasions that I have faced and I didn't conform to the situation.
The first is,
MONEY
Never fight or quarrel because of money. I have seen a lot of situations where people have misunderstandings because of money and I just couldn't wrap my head around it as to why it happened in the first place. I have tried to avoid situations where money will likely cause a drift between myself and others especially people close to me. I'd rather let go of the money than enter a confrontation. Due to this fact, I adopted the rule that if I can't forget the money, I shouldn't lend it out. That way, if the person doesn't eventually pay up, I can easily zero my mind off the money.
I also try to avoid borrowing at all costs and if the situation warrants I borrow, I make realistic promises on when I will pay back since I don't like disappointments, and I shouldn't also dish it out.
An example just happened recently with a close female friend of mine. I requested a hefty amount of money from her and I wasn't sure if I would be able to settle her all in time. She knew that I needed the money and to be very transparent, we came up with a compromise where I paid up 70% first and the remaining 30% later on. After settling the first payment, it was quite difficult getting the second but I just had to strive because it was already past the promised time, and to avoid spoiling our relationship, I had to work harder for it.
GIRLS, Awọn ọmọbirin, Nwa agbọghọ, Chica, Fille.
Yes ooo, I had to use different translations for that gender because this gender has caused a lot of wars due to their decisions typical examples are Helen of Troy & Cleopatra of Egypt. Funny how the war that brought about my online alias was caused by a lady. Even though the wars aren't caused directly by the ladies. It was mostly caused by the man's ego. Well, that ego is what I won't let drive me. Probably the reason why men went to war over a woman was because women didn't have a voice back then but in these modern times where a woman's voice is even sharper than that of a man, I believe it best you let her know your feelings and whatever she decides to do with that knowledge is up to her.
I have had several experiences regarding this but the most recent happened years back when I liked a girl and I told her also my friend knew how I felt about the girl and he went ahead to ask her out. Other guys would have caused a whole lot of drama over this issue but I just didn't have the strength for that. The funniest thing is that the so-called relationship didn't last up to 4 days and she came crying 😂😂😂.
So I don't fight or hold grudges when it comes to the female gender. Freely then came and freely they can go.
The last on the list is
CHANGING MY PERSONALITY TO FIT IN
This only happens if the said personality to change is questionable. I am not in for that "accept me for who I am, I can't change for anybody shit". If you complain about my baggage and it will make me a better person then I'm in for a change but if it's because you want me to be more like you, then I fade off.
Recently, I found myself doing dome questionable kinds of stuff that I wasn't cool with and since they couldn't accept that I can't be fully involved with what they are, I just had to step back.
So guys, here you have it. MY TOP 3 CODE OF CONDUCT.
What do you think?
sensible or stupid?
