It's another beautiful week full of hopes and a whole lot of opportunities to tap into. Day 1 on hive-learners weekly featured content, I will be sharing some financial decisions I made buying some stuffs that made me very happy and also some that made me furious at myself and the seller.
Some time back, I attended an hangout with some members of the hive learners community hosted by the MOD @starstrings01 on the topic that centered on financial management. A lot was said and I really learnt a lot at the discord hangout and one thing everybody said was one way or another centered on impulse buying. To those that might not know, impulse buying is when you don't plan to buy an item but you eventually do when it catches your eyes. In Nigeria, one of the major places where this happens are in parks especially while travelling and trust me, you are definitely going to regret buying that earpiece or power bank lolz.
I know that I am in the ship when it has to do impulse buying most times but I don't really go for permanent they mostly temporary stuffs. Things that are I already know that won't stay long so no regrets there like that. But what will you do if after being calculative in purchasing something it ends up making you regret. Yes, I'm sure the feeling will be very devastating knowing that you need the stuff, saved up and every thing was going well according to plan but after buying, it goes downwards.
Mine happened while I was still getting most of the utensils I would need for my business. As I was going through the net checking out some nonstick since I will definitely need it since I will be making some stir fry meals and frying. So, I saw a lovely set online and was like this is nice. To avoid being scammed, I decided to go local in making the purchase and I contacted a friend that has already told me that if I need any cooking utensils, her aunty sells. We bargained on the price and I said I would get back to her. After few days, I was able to arrange the funds and I contacted her that I will be coming around to pick it up then I was told that she doesn't have a shop. She was probably a drop shipper no problem there. She sent it through a dispatch and I met up and picked up my stuff. Feeling excited that I had already taken another step in reaching my goals, I showed everyone that was following up on my journey.
Fast forward to the day of launch hmmmm.
As I put the fry pan on fire to prepare a customer's order of noodles, I started to observe a strange smell in my kitchen and to my greatest shock, it was the so called non stick that was melting the coating of the pan. It was just so embarrassing. That wasn't the only thing that got bad that day. The plastic spatula was also a no no, 2 of the pots handles melted off. I had to go get a normal frying the following day just to meet up with the orders and to avoid selling poisons to my customers. I still have the biggest pot in my cupboard untouched till this day. I don't even know what to do with it at the moment.
There are some things I bought that are still making me glad I bought they. For instance, my television. Shortly after buying this, I lost a great deal of money and things started going sideways and I was tempted to sell but I refused and maintained my ground and refused to sell. Well I'm sure you all know the price of television in the market right now. Also, I am so glad I made the decision to buy my generator because also, the price of generator has also gone up. The most recent purchase I made that gives me great joy are my work space table, my double sided gas burner (I have always being postponing this burner). The ones I am looking forward to buying are my oven and my grill.
So that's it guys. I guess I could have done my research more to find out more on the product before buying. I have finally gotten a better non stick pan remains a non stick pot and probably a ceramic plated frying pan I heard it is much better but more expensive.
