Importance of planning

The famous adage is:

“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”

Planning can be defined as a framework to achieve already set objectives by utilizing available resources and managing what is needed. Planning not only gives a way to that objective but also provides answers to many questions like

What’s the easiest way to do the job?
Who will do the job?
How one can do the job?
How much time will it take to do the job?

We always commend the ambitious person who sets high goals but is just setting objectives enough? I guess No.
A baseless goal leaves you with nothing if you don’t plan how to achieve that goal after setting it.

Many argue that planning is good until circumstances are in your favor but it doesn’t take much time for circumstances to get changed and your actions don’t comply with your plans. So it is not the planning that matters, it is mainly the circumstances under which we are working. But I don’t agree with it because a properly assessed and formulated plan is made after evaluating every circumstance. Moreover, a proper plan includes alternative options as well.

As the cricket season is on across the world because of the ongoing T20 World Cup season, let’s take our example from it. To win a game you just don’t have to come and play. To win a game you will have to analyze all the aspects of the game. You must find out the vulnerabilities and strengths of opponents. To get someone out, you must see where that batsman struggles, which length to bowl, and which bowler can do that best. This is the planning. You will have to attack at some moments while attaining a defending position in some circumstances and if all that is planned then a victory is visible before your eyes.

To get the ambition, only dreaming about it is not enough. You must specify the main objectives of that ambition. You must evaluate all the possible routes to get that ambition and select the best and most feasible one. You must have risk management as well. The framework of all these actions is called planning. The planning involves step-by-step movement which also improves the consistency.

We can get example of hive as well. Being a successful author here may be your goal but to become so you must have to publish appropriate writings . You must plan where to write and what to write. You must see communities which best suit you. Avoiding plagiarism and being consistent. All this is a part of of plan.

The domain of planning is from a single individual to an organization to society and the whole country as well. The plan must be flexible and objective-oriented. It must be formulated keeping objectives in mind, all the possible hardships on the way, and procedures to manage that circumstance.

Conclusively, we can say that planning gives us direction, a path, motivation to go on that path, make the right decisions on that path, coping the risks with commitment and consistency.
