Helping others out with various tasks is a noble act that impacts the lives of those involved positively, be it helping out with basic house chores or cleaning the environment, helping the young and elderly cross the road, or navigating their paths. They're all good, and one we can go on to ourselves to be satisfied about doing. Because you have this sense of satisfaction within yourself for what you've done and how helpful it is to others, I, for one, have indulged in this voluntary act on several occasions, and in this article, I'll tell you about them.
Like I said volunteering for things goes on to give us a sense of satisfaction and pride, I've indulge in many volunteers services to people around me and it's always a thing of joy knowing that I'm having a positive impact on people's lives with my act, that isn't being forced before I do them, and like I said, these acts don't have to be ambiguous to be seen as noble; they could be as simple as helping a young child or an adult cross the road.
And this is one thing I do almost every single workday, because by the time I arrive at the junction of my workplace, I need to cross to the other side of the road, and there I meet my schoolchildren and elderly who want to do the same but can't on their own, and I stop to help them by trying to make incoming vehicles slow down so they can cross freely without that resulting in an accident.
That's what I'll say is my most recent community service, and it's because I'm rendering support to the community one way or another, from helping the young and elderly to prevent chaos and accidents that will lead to unrest for the health workers and other people, but aside from this, I've indulged in many other community services. I remember a few years ago, I and some other youth and young adults in my church indulged in a noble community service for a neighbor by planting trees beside the road.
Although when we were planting them that particular year, most of the community didn't see the usefulness of those trees; others even criticized us while we were at it, saying they wanted something else, but today those trees have grown and now have multiple impacts on their community, from beautifying it to reducing heat, ensuring quality air, providing shade and comfort, and here the community members and passersby now sit to take fresh air during the summer sun.
I remember the last time I walked through the committee and saw how beautiful the trees had made the streets look. I had a sense of connection, fulfillment, satisfaction, and pride from seeing someone I joined others in doing become a useful part of a community, even though where I walked through the street and saw people sitting under the trees, they didn't recognize me as one of those who planted the trees. I didn't feel offended but satisfied and recognized how much of an impact my voluntary service had on their lives and community at large.
Overall, some of the things I've come to learn about indulging in volunteering are that it gives a feeling of satisfaction; it's always a pleasant feeling when you see the impact you've had on lives and the society at large. It makes me realize that change can start from another, and you don't need to wait for a savior when you yourself can be the change. It also shows the endless things we can achieve when we work together as a team because, like they say, teamwork makes the team work, not forgetting the joy that comes from giving or helping and the power our small acts possess and can have on lives and the reason why we shouldn't stop indulging in these acts.
Like I said, community service I indulge in happens almost on a daily basis. I still help students and children cross the highway today while on my way to work and would still do the same tomorrow, and for some major ones, I might have to reach out to some of my friends or colleagues to decide on doing something helpful for a community or school in this season of love; it could be cleaning their environment or planting trees like we've done before.
