The Double-Edged Sword of Texting

We're in a technology and social media age, and one of the core features of this age and era is texting. Unlike previous ages where we've had to write letters and send them via post office before we could communicate with others in far distance, now texting features via the innovation of technology have made communication easier and seamless, and you can literally communicate with anyone from anywhere at the speed of light in the comfort of your home, making communication more cheap and accessible to everyone. I'm a big fan of these, especially texting, and below I stated why and do of my opinions about it.

Texting is a saving grace for many, and like I said, it improves communication and makes it cheaper and more convenient. I, for one, used to be very used to texting and can go on to spend hours upon hours texting and communicating with friends across all walks of life, making me keep my friends close despite the distance between us and as well giving me room to make and acquire new friends that we can build something on the online space. It's just intriguing and addictive if one doesn't figure it out and manage their time properly.

While texting or better still chatting as made communication easier and seamless via social media, a lot of things do play out there that I'm not a fan of, and that coupled with my addiction as made me set up a rule for myself that I live by when on the social media space, and ever since I lay down those guidelines for myself, it has helped improve me, giving me room to improve myself, get value from others on the social space, and as well give back the same energy.

When texting or chatting, you'll realize some people just want to text and get valuable information from you or try to hack your account, so I tried as much as possible to be conscious of what I let out of the bag while texting and as well as being wary of the links I click. Also, there are friends who don't always have something to say and would only message you to say I, and then once you respond and ask how they're, they'll reply by saying fine without asking how I also am. This is usually annoying for me. I don't know why; I hate it.

I mean, I believe courtesy demands that you at least ask of my wellbeing as much as I'm concerned about yours, and this can also help increase the length of the conversion, but some people just want to be the center of attention alone, so once I notice that, I just draw a line and stop texting such a person regardless of whether we're friends or not; alongside that, I don't like being held in a meaningless conversation.

For me, texting and communicating should be done to check on the wellbeing of your pal, meet new friends, pass information across, and share helpful tips that could aid the progress of everyone; however, some just want to gossip all day about things that aren't trivia or just text on random topics that won't benefit our lives in any way and consume our precious time, and so I've made it a point of duty to find a way to excuse myself from any communication that's taking a lot of time without a sign of something meaningful coming out of such.

Via texting, I've been given helpful information that has impacted my life positively, not just in the online space but even physically in the real world, and that's why I do enjoy texting, but when such text isn't focused on shared values, I tend to either just ignore the person's text or sight excuses of me being busy and unable to chat at the moment. It's what it's; I'd rather spend my time on something beneficial than something meaningless that won't add value to my life.

Alot of people prefer chatting compare to calling because of their addiction of mobile phone

Yes that's one of the reasons.

I think it's easier for a lot to text than call as it's easier to type than say the words directly.

Yea that's the new normal for most people.

You are right. Texting is economical and this is why so many people love texting instead of calling. Although, it is better when it comes to chatting on social media instead of ordinary messages.

Texting has really impacted so many people's lives, not just you alone.
