Start early and work harder, that is how you can be ahead of those who think nothing of you. They won't even think of how far you can go because they are busy gossiping about you, all they can do is to sit together and talk about your situation. While they are busy talking about you, keep yourself busy working towards your goal and your success will come as a shock to them because they will never expect it to happen.
Even if you fall during the process, stand back on your feet and keep going. Don't listen to what they have to say or look back on what they are doing because that can be an hindrance to you while chasing your goal. That success they think you can't achieve is much closer to you than what even you can imagine but you have to start first to know where the path will lead to.
