While I'm all for rural areas, or living in the small town max, there is something that changes when we are getting older... The one thing that I never cared about when I was young was the healthcare, the proximity to the hospital, or a health center...
So, I would say, a rural area, but relatively close to a health center, just in case... you never know if you will need it...
I completely agree with your points, and I would add one more on top of it... It is much more healthy to raise your children in rural areas than in big cities!

Excellent walk enjoying different landscapes in a small space. I love the level of detail, from panoramic views to tiny details of what you found along the way. I'm worried about those trunks and dry branches on the floor. This summer has been one of the least bad that I remember for Portugal, but I know the great fires you suffer and that uncontrolled undergrowth does not help.
