Staying in different types of accommodation in Brisbane over the last couple of weeks is providing me with the opportunity to check out new surrounds. So with much delight I am exploring wonderful parklands that I did not know existed when I was a student in this city a lot of decades ago. How the years have flashed by!
Being highly nosey and always up for adventurous exploration I am walking a lot of kilometres these days in rain or shine and loving it. Due to my current away from home circumstances my Wednesday walk post is a tad late this week. My intent is to show off nature's wonders in the Brisbane suburb of Toowong, which is borders onto The Wesley Hospital located in the suburb of Auchenflower.
It is a favourite tag of mine, created and wonderfully managed by fellow walker, blogger and great photographer Mr Nice guy @tatoodjay. If you have not joined in with a Wednesday walk try it, all you have to do is walk, take some photos and write. Easy peasy!
The atmosphere was peaceful as I walked along and I send quiet accolades to the environment planners, landscape gardeners and the city council policy makers for the lovely balance of the bustling noisey traffic and quiet green retreats.
Even with the noisy hum of the busy six lane road near by a lovely natural quiet harmony still pervaded the parkland. This photo shows the closeness of the city of Brisbane.
Check out The Wesley Hospital standing above the trees, to me it looks like a castle on a hill overlooking a valley. I like the contrast between the light and dark.
I took this photo on the balcony of an apartment building called the Inn on the Park.
The Wesley features big in many ways in this park, as can be seen in this photo of the children's playground
I wondered if many people exercised here, it provides a way to keep fit in parks in Brisbane for anybody and everybody. I have not seen anyone using this resource last week but it had been raining and I am thinking that I was probably walking by at the wrong time of day..
My exploring brought me to this massively impressive Moorlands Park sign and of course I had to suss it out.
It was a wow from me when I saw this beautiful green sight as I rounded the corner. The rainy summer and rain last week has created a sparkling pizazz to the emerald green look. It was well worth the look.
You would be forgiven if you thought country looking at this pretty nature scene, but reality sets in pretty quickly when seeing the big unit building across the river. It is a stark reminder that this is a city with a road full of cars.
The pretty local streets green with trees and plants are also touched with lots of parked cars and even an electric bike had been left on the footpath by the rider. Man and nature seem to live in harmony together in a partnership as best they can.
And so I finished my delightful exploring Wednesday walk when I reached the Inn on the Park, my apartment accommodation for a couple of days last week.
Life throws curve balls now and then catapulting us out of whack. Although not always easy seeing every situation positively it makes sense to me to do the best you can. Laughing is alwasy better than crying.
