Walk in 2 days long (11pics)

This is a post to go with #WednesdayWalk challenge by @tattoodjay.

Greetings, friends!
Today my story will be about a slightly unusual walk. It was a walk of almost 2 days. My nephew invited me to go to my homeland and help him dismantle the fence around his grandmother's house. Maybe someone will have a question - why disassemble the fence? I'll try to explain.
No one has lived in the house for more than a year. Recently, neighbors called and said that a thief had broken into the house. The nephew's grandmother said - we need to go and see the consequences. And the most important thing is to dismantle the fence. These are the features of this village - almost all fences in their composition have sections of rails. It was these rails that had to be taken out of the ground and taken with them.

There was a lot of work ahead and the nephew invited another of his uncles who lives in this village. But he practically did not help us, because he had 2 states - he either slept or drank vodka, which his nephew took with him. Do you think how much vodka did my nephew take with him? 6 liters!!!! When I found out about this, I realized that I would have to forget about fishing plans. I will say right away that we have successfully completed all the planned work, but I had to adjust my plans for the evening.
By the way, if you look closely at the photo, you can see that rails are visible on both sides of the gate at the fence as support posts.

This is the abandoned state of the street. We counted and realized that only five houses have someone permanently residing at the moment, the rest of the houses have already collapsed or are falling into disrepair. The old people died, and the young people left in search of a better life. There are many such collapsing villages in Russia.
In the evening, local young guys came to visit us, about the age of 40, like my nephew. There was a lot of talk about the war, about Ukraine. They said that a lot of guys went to war with Ukraine to earn money. People go to kill other people for money.
My grandparents came to live in this village after Stalin's death when Khrushchev began moving people from small villages to larger ones. They built this house. Then Grandpa died. I've never seen him. My uncle and his family began to live in this house.
I often went hunting with my cousin in the woods. The first time he took me hunting was when I was 12 years old. It was winter. He taught me how to hunt. Those were happy childhood years.

10 years ago, I helped my nephews repair this house. The house is still in good condition and it is still possible to live in it. But apparently he will soon join the neighbors' houses and begin to collapse. It's very sad to realize that this is how life goes.

And it was a beautiful day. The sun was shining. My nephew and I went to the pond 3 times, which is located two hundred meters from the house. During these 2 days, I did not think at all about my permanent job. I was resting body and soul.

Friends, do you see 2 female figures? I asked the owner of this land plot about this composition. She explained to me that "it's 2 women looking over the fence into my yard".

Once such items were actively used in the household. And now all this is only good for a museum or scrap metal.

This is the vegetable garden of our local assistant, who was sleeping and drinking vodka. Have you noticed the absence of fruit trees? Yes, apple trees, pears, plums, and other familiar fruit trees do not grow in my small homeland. This village is located 150 km east of my current home. And that's such a big difference in climate.

We're going home. We just have to stop by my aunt, my mother's older sister. When we went to the village, we took my mother so that she could stay in the city with her sister. Their meetings have become rare, a maximum of 2 times a year. They also have a younger sister who lives in the Urals. They haven't met for 7 years.
Once their family was big. There were 11 children in total. Only 5 survived to adulthood. Such was life in the Soviet countryside.

It is sad to see these lovely little villages being abandoned. Seems it would be a great place for anyone willing to do the work of homesteading and living off the land.

People don't want to work as farmers. A lot of costs and a small share of returns from this business. Men go to work in the North in a shift way - to extract gas and oil.

What a beautiful area. Sad that people are leaving the countryside for the bigger villages. Unfortunately it is the same everywhere. In the US, people are leaving rural areas too. The jobs and all the young people are in the cities. I love the black and white picture of the house and the clouds over the pond 🙂

In the US, people are leaving rural areas too.
This is a global trend. We have a saying - "a fish is looking for where it is deeper, and a person is looking for where it is better."

such a charming area a shame so manyof the places are vacant

I love the ladies looking over the fence that gave me a chuckle

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)

At first, I didn't understand what the ladies were doing at the fence. If it were men, I would understand. The author of the exposition explained the meaning to me
