My hubs is a baseball fan. He comes from Ohio, but says he 'grew up' in New York (Syracuse alum). His father has been a Sox fan since his GRANDMOTHER has been. It is a tradition passed down, apparently.
A visit to Fenway Park, not just to see a game, has been on my father-in-law's bucket list forever. So during a visit from Ohio in 2018, we all took a tour.
It was a rainy day, and it's an open park, but there are lots of awnings to take shelter under during the heavy downpours.
The Green Monster (Monstah) is pretty famous among baseball fans I think.
It's quite a view from up there.
The tour was basically a walk around the bleachers, the Monstah, and then up to the press box.
My father-in-law thought it was pretty cool, but my mother-in-law is often just 'along for the ride'.
(Don't tell them I took their picture!)
The one red seat is always an attraction, apparently.
I, too, was basically just along for the ride.
It signifies the distance of a Ted Williams home run hit. The longest in franchise history ever to be hit at the park.
Seems like someone would've passed that by now!
You can see from the pavement that it was raining quite a bit by the time we made it up to the press box.
Luckily the rest of the tour was indoors, so we were off to wander the halls. We took a peek in the locker rooms and then off to the gift shop, and out the door into the rain.
We scooted over the the Boston Brew House for some food and beers and to get out of the rain for a bit.
It was a fun day.
Once was probably enough for me though. I much preferred the visit to the museum, but that was cut short due to a fire alarm being pulled and an evacuation of the building. Good time ;)
So there you have it! A tour of a famous baseball park, given by a non-fan of baseball! Perspective!
Thanks to @tattoodjay for hosting #wednesdaywalk ! Here's his post where you can check out the rules too!
