Not many weeks ago, I took a beautiful walk through the city where Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra was born. It is none other than Alcalá de Henares.
Walking through some of its streets, with low houses and arcades, is partly like living that time but with terraces instead of the taverns that existed at the time.
During a stroll along the Calle Mayor, you will inevitably come across the two world-famous characters Sancho and Don Quixote.
These characters can be found right in front of the house where Miguel de Cervantes was born, which now houses a museum.
But Alcalá de Henares is more than Don Quixote and Miguel de Cervantes and many historical buildings can be visited, each one more peculiar than the other.
But the historic building of the university stands out above all.
With rose gardens on the outside and storks' nests on the nearby roofs.
And if you leave the city center and walk through some of the streets a little further away, you can still see the city's love for Don Quixote. Can't you see the typical hat of the ingenious nobleman on the roof of this service area?
Undoubtedly, a walk to remember and one that I hope to repeat sooner rather than later.
