Today is #WednesdayWalk, and don't let my friends of the #dreemportchallenge hear me. But these days, I haven't had the chance to go for a walk. And since I didn't have a new walk to post. I thought, why not bring some memories of a walk some time ago that I would love to store in the Blockchain.
This walk I'm going to share was done in December 2019 when we visited my sister-in-law and her family in Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
One morning that dawned on a sunny day, a rare thing in Santiago's winter. We took a walk along a route away from the tourist circuit of the city.
We started in a neighborhood named Santa Marta, where some modern buildings stood out, contrasting with the nearby constructions.
This neighborhood is adjacent to the campus of the University of Santiago de Compostela, which we pass through as part of our walk.
Leaving the Campus area, we headed along Costa do Cano street towards the Ponte Sarela.
We came across one of the typical signs used to mark the route for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago, before crossing the bridge.
In this part of the walk, we covered a small part of the route used by pilgrims leaving the town of Santiago and heading to Fisterra.
We crossed the Ponte Sarela and walked the route which took us along a rural road that goes along the river. We visited the ruins of an old stone mill that is on the way.
We followed the route along the banks of the river. We had the feeling of were walking in the rural countryside, but we were only a few meters away from the historical center of the city.
On the last part of our route, we came across the Casa de Los Gatos. A little house located in an area named Carme de Abaixo, and well known in Santiago, where a lady of German origin lives with her cats. And it is also a shelter in the city for stray cats.
After leaving the Casa de Los Gatos behind, we walked a few more meters along the riverbank before crossing a stone bridge similar to the previous one. But this one led us to the streets of the downtown city, where we continued our tour, but that will be a subject for another time.
This is my post for this week's #wednesdaywalk challenge hosted by @tattoodjay.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading.
