Wednesday Walk : A walk in an abstract painting by the Aritst Winter

Falling snow in the wood or Jackson Pollack painting?

Today's Wednesday walk is, per usual, part of the #wednesdaywalk and #makemesmile challenge. I'll link to those who can better describe it below. Now, let's get to our walk, shall we?

16febhive8.jpg

I found myself , the other day, with a roll full of abstractions. That is when I was out in the woodland walking to the field and marsh, the normal part of my morning ramble, we had just got a new fallen snow.

There is magic in this wood when it snows

16febhive10.jpg

and for that matter there is a bit of it when the sun shines bright as well or the bluebells push through the leaf mold in Spring, but I digress.

The snow had stopped, early morning, but the wind would softly tickle the branches and thus came the magic stuff tinkling down upon you. In the photographs, they would blue the view and I couldn't help but think of an artist's brush or the pouring curlicued lines of a Jackson Pollack pouring paint from buckets over head.

16febhive11.jpg

Can't you see the splatter and brush strokes of Mother Nature upon the canvas of the little woodland?

I know it was magical to step, Mary Poppins like, into a chalk drawing and wander out into the magic ling and curve and dash of white upon white played up with shots of green and umbers.

16febhive9.jpg
The painter's brush set dripping with white emulsion or soft pine boughs heavy with snow?

Everywhere was downy white and silence. That silence one gets in a quiet wood after a new fallen snow. The air is muffled and only the crunch and slide of your boots breaks the noise or the chickadee calling, following you along your path.

16febhive12.jpg

"Chick-ah-dee-dee-dee" he'd call and "Crunch , squlech" and silence again. And then the wind would tap the great Winter paint brush and down would fall the magic white again.

16febhive7.jpg

Upon returning home I could see the Winter Artist had been at his sculpting as well

16febhive2.jpg

As I come back the beach and up our little path to the Long walk I always take the path through my cutting garden, where the chicken's live, and see what cupid is up to.

16febhive3.jpg

He was "up to" a good three inches taller thanks to the artistry of Winter, sculpting a glorious wig and warm collar and muff, to keep poor Cupid's little stone legs warm.

Then past the woodpile in my shade garden to see the Old Fisherman watching over my frozen pond

16febhive4.jpg

"Et tu old man" I said, knowing full well Winter, the flamboyant artist, wouldn't leave him undone. And so he'd "sculpted" a downy white hat and cape for him. He seemed a dandy, a look I am certain was not aspired to by the Old Fisherman; but he kept his stoic countenance and grinned through his rusty beard, watching over the quiet koi asleep until Spring.

Darling little Jug carrier, you as well?

16febhive5.jpg
Of course, your burden of water, which grows heavier come Summer when the water spills from your jug all day and all night, now with the hopes of Winter rest, the artist Winter has topped your burden with white and given you a wig worthy of a French courtesan.

I am sorry for your increased burden, but I am not sorry for the dashing way it sets off your crumbling countenance and the highlights the curvilinear lines of the forsythia behind you.

16febhive1.jpg

I stop now, on this long walk, to catch my breath from all the majesty of so much artistry in a walk. I sit for a moment, in the snow (I'm almost ready to go into a fire and hot tea, and my woolen skirts keep me dray) under the pine I planted my self almost 20 years ago...I wonder at Time, that elusive beast, He'll be at it next with Winter making a compilation piece...

So, I sit here under the tall Blue spruce I planted all those years back, a small Christmas tree in a little planter it had been, and now it's boughs heavy with the artistry of Winter and look at at the sea, past the piles of brush we've made thus far for the Spring burns, past the old boathouse roofline that needs repair and just breath in the glory of Winter's creation.

It has been a good walk today.

I hope you enjoyed my little foray into chalk drawings and sculptures made my Nature. I hope you can find a moment in your day to go for a ramble or a skip down a path of delight.

I will now give you to @elizacheng and @tattoodjay post which give you the rules and such to join in our #wednesdaywalk and I hope you shall join in, as you can see, it's such fun!

Wow it looks so cool there I have to wear a thick leather jacket, unfortunately I'm not in that country. 🙃

Well fortunately or unfortuantely depends on if you like the snow haha. Yes, you'd need a jacket and a cap and muffler and a good pair of boots as well :) It's magical to walk in I must say @opick

Too bad I can't feel the cold snow, my country has two seasons, summer and rainy season, but I want to enjoy the beauty of snow. 🥲

These are lovely sight to behold, great collections of photos.
It's gonna be really cold out there, hope you are putting on something tick.

Yes I always wear heavy trousers with wool skirts over that but I'm made of tough stuff and rather like the Winter and the cold :) Now the heat, I'm not so good with haha @vickoly

That's good to know, Though it's good to prevent the weather either we're tough or not.

I also prefer the cold, than heat.
In fact heat down can be overly tense(unfortunately that's the season we're heading to presently).

It was a pretty snow this time around for sure! Like living in a snowglobe.

That snow looks very cool :) .... I hope you get it lot more ;)

It really is pretty when it's falling, luckily we usually get warm rains a few days later to wash it away and then we get it again, the variety can make it more enjoyable for sure. Thanks for stopping by @foxkoit

I have here also snow ... but today it have all day just rain and rain :)) ... I think this snow is soon here also fast cone :) .... but if night cold comes I have lot ice roads :))

Oh, the artistry here is simply breathtaking. I love your cupid and have angels in my gardens, but the way the stillness of the day trees laden with mountains of snow.

This is pure magic.

Electronic-terrorism, voice to skull and neuro monitoring on Hive and Steem. You can ignore this, but your going to wish you didnt soon. This is happening whether you believe it or not. https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism

Lovely and claustrophobic at the same time, as I would probably eventually lose my sense of North & South right in the middle of a white forest.

Totally like a Pollock painting haha. Great to walk with you today!

Ah but what a lovely confusion to be lost in the snow until it settles :) @edprivat

I do think Mothe rnature is the best artist there is, the beauty she gives us all year round always thrills me, but in winter she paints such wonderful winter landscapes as you have shown us here

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Truly agree, I'm always surprised by the various 'artwork' I see each day, as if done by magic overnight. We live in such a lovely area indeed, we New Englanders.

Ohh yes it is so beautiful here without a doubt
