I hope that by now you will understand the reason why I describe myself that way in my account bio, because in reality, I know a lot less than most of the tourists that come to Bali, and visit a lot of beautiful places this small island has to offer. I don't even know the tourist attraction that is so close to my house, which is sad, but you might understand once you have talked with most of the common Balinese about this, and you might able to find the reason.
For today's Wednesday walk, I will show you the area around the palace I posted some time ago in this community, with almost the same setting, I spare my time to walk around the area, before picking up my son from the daycare.
I started the walk near the big gate that ended my last post and then took a short walk before I saw this small gate with a cute ornament on the top of the gate.
Here you can see the regular ornament at the front of many temple here in Bali which is called Karang Boma, which is as the symbol to neautralized the demonic side of every pilgrims who want to visit the temple to pray so that they could come and prey with a pure and holy heart.
And from this placard that is installed at the gate, I learn that this temple is belong to the royal family. They even put a phone number of the contact person incase you want to pray on the temple.
The Upper Part is the Balinese Writing System, and the lower part is the translation with the Latin, but still in Balinese Language.
And right across the temple on the Palace wall, I noticed this weird section of the wall. It seems like the wall in built on different time, it might be as part of a renovation, but the finishing is a little bit aweful, I expected it to be built a little better for a palace.
A street sign.
A random small seller cart. Not sure what was sold there because it was closed when I walked around the area.
Here is the Name sign of the other part of the Palace, called Puri Agung Karangasem or Grand Palace of Karangasem from Karangasem Kingdom.
I guess this is the guard post.
A tall gate to enter the palace.
Statues guarding the gate of the palace.
and then moving on, I was hit by other reality. The houses around the palace feel so old, and so quite. The gate and the wall is so old and unfinished according to today's standard.
I bet this Radio Service store is no longer in operation. Who has its own radio nowadays?
From this side, it makes me wonder what is reallt happenign on this side of the town. Although I am not sure about the land ownership of the house, as since it is too close to the palace, the land might still belong to the Royal family which is giving to the people to use, that might be the reason for the homeowner to renovate the house.
Do you notice the contrast of the modern Concrete bricks and also the alot older red bricks on the side?
Now for the last one, Would you believe this is also stil part of the palace? or at least belong to the Royal Family?
Because it is still part of the palace, which unfortunately not in a very good condition.
