Hi friends, this is my first time writing to this community. I had already discovered you for some time, but I had never had the opportunity to share my Wednesday walks. Today I would like to share with you the walk I took last Wednesday. During the walk I took some photos that I think are quite interesting, even if I'm not a professional. So don't expect outstanding results, but I hope you can still enjoy the images.
I decided to get up early in the morning, despite the cold January temperatures typical of my area. I decided to take a small excursion to a small village located about 10 km from my home, Barbarano Vicentino, which is located at the foot of the Berici Hills. I chose this route because I had seen it shared online by other people and it intrigued me. It is not a very demanding excursion, it lasts about 10 km and takes place in an uncontaminated natural environment, it is a moderate walk suitable for everyone.
As soon as I got off the road I took, which started from the village, I began to climb in altitude. The small fog on the plain created a really nice effect on the landscape, so I decided to stop and take some photos. Honestly, I had never seen such a suggestive landscape. Also, the sun was just coming out, making the light even more beautiful in my opinion. I couldn't wait to continue my hike to see what the rest of the trail would hold for me.
This small path is a circular path, i.e. from where you start and then you reach the end of the path and takes you to climb in altitude until you reach about 300 meters. You are on the top of a mountain called Cengia, from where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama. From there you can also see the Euganean Hills, small hills near Padua, another important city in my region. Walking along this path you can admire untouched landscapes and have the chance to see a wide range of fauna and flora
The only danger that can be found along the way is that being close to the mountain, you have to raise your head a little and be careful that no stones fall. This is because the mountain is of limestone origin, so it tends to crumble a little more than other types of rock. it is important to pay attention to this on the way up and to follow the safety signs along the way. Despite this, the panorama that can be admired once at the top is absolutely worth this little extra effort.
However, I really like to come to these places early in the morning because you can find so many wild animals. You have to be a little careful of the wild boars because they are very populous in this area and it is a very aggressive animal, but above all because there is no one around and you can go up in complete tranquillity. Furthermore, the fresh morning air and the peace and silence of the place make the experience even more pleasant.
Under this mountain there is also a small point where you can take a break. It was precariously set up by someone and most likely someone also comes there at night, because I found traces of a fire that hadn't been extinguished for a long time. It is a very suggestive area and if one is looking for a bit of tranquillity, it is ideal for a stop and a little break before continuing the excursion. You can enjoy the view of the landscape and the silence of the place, and maybe eat a snack or drink a hot drink.
Also because here in the evening, in my opinion you can see a beautiful panorama and you can admire the lights of the cities. It must be a very beautiful experience, even if a bit scary from my point of view.
After resting a bit, I started the descent back to the village. I have always taken small paths that are fairly easy to do, but you need to be somewhat equipped with shoes because there is always the risk of slipping. It is important to pay attention during the descent and to follow the safety signs along the way. Even if the descent is less demanding than the ascent, it is still important to pay attention to avoid accidents.
Along the way I found some small fountains which unfortunately were in a state of decay, probably due to lack of maintenance. I also found a very nice capital, who knows how old it is. It is a pity to see these historical and cultural heritage items in such a state, it would be important for someone to take care of them and preserve them for future generations. I hope that in the future there will be greater attention to the maintenance of these places and that they will be better valued.
After a good 2 and a half hours of walking, my excursion was over. I was quite tired, but not particularly, and it's not terribly challenging. Although in my opinion it is not really suitable for example for those with small children because there are some parts of the route that are quite exposed. It was a good hike and I always love hiking in nature.
I hope these photos and my story have been interesting for you and I hope to be able to share my other adventures with you in the future. In the meantime, thank you for reading and I hope this description can be useful for those who want to go on an excursion in this area.
