It was Parents'-and-Teachers Day that day, although I almost gave up after looking for car park in vain for 1 hour 10 minutes, I chose to still go regardless the inconvenience because I really wanted to have a look at my son's school again after not able to do for almost 3 years since the Covid19 incoming.
I drove back home after being stucked at car parking area for more than one hour, and asked my husband to quickly got ready to send me to the school again and dropped me off at the side since we would not be able to find car park anyway. He then could drive further to another place to eat breakfast with the children. I still had half and hour more before 10am, we all rushed.
Thank goodness, I made it on time. I actually ran up to the 3rd floor via staircase and phew, I made it eventhough with some knee pain. Lol... When I reached the class, I was greeted by the Chinese word on the door, the word we usually saw during Chinese New Year, it must be one of their art. There was one parent talking to the teacher. Next up would be my turn. I took a good glance at the classroom. It had been awhile I could see my son's classroom.
The class was surprisingly neat and tidy. I missed classrooms haha. School time was the most fun moments in my life. I truly enjoyed all the nonsense time. Just having fun with friends. I silently hope the students nowadays also had fun during school time.
It was my turn, and I got to hear from teacher that for this class, almost half of the students had bad command in Chinese, making them could not comprehend Maths and Science and History subjects too since all these three were written in Chinese. Poor children. Teacher encouraged me to read Chinese story books with my son daily but the challenge was, I myself did not know how to read. Maybe 20-40% of the whole passage.
Anyway, we had a short talk then I proceeded to have a slow walk around the school. Earlier on when I ran up the staircase, I was interested at the panels of stickers of words sticked there. All encouraging and motivational phrases, so I wanted to capture them. Let me show you below. I actually tried to walk back down then walk back up again to take all these. Parents were looking at me, some looked quite puzzled because I waited for them to clear the staircase before I took the photo. Well, I tried.
I had a good look at the Level 3 and I thought this school looked great. It wasn't a big school compared to other schools but I guessed it was good enough.
My son told me about the school built netting on each floor to prevent students or teachers from jumping down due to commit suicide. I thought it was brilliant. They knew about the stress among students and teachers and this could really help.
Since I used staircase just now, let's use walked using slope to go down. This slope was for students with trolley bag. As well as a couple with wheelchairs.
Reaching Ground Floor, I was interested to look at their new basketball court just done this year. And I wow-ed. Really nice.
Then to their canteen where students got to relax for that 20 minutes time. All students needed to train to eat as fast as possible like at army camp haha. I love the canteen, really huge and so many tables and chairs arranged nicely.
Then I walked to another huge empty space where children assembled for assembly.
Next to it was toilets and on top there were posters of different state and details of the state.
I got my attention on the board where they showcased all the beautiful art made by students.
Then, I walked to the common big area where students sat down to wait for the parents after school. Here, there would always be a small 'kiosk' for selling stuff. Different time different kiosk. This time, it was this.
Walking out the school, I saw so many Malaysia flags being hung outside. This was the place parents queued up to get their children.
And a washing hand area for parents and students.
Since it was approaching our Independence Day, I noticed these huge flags and also our National flag being put up at the pole.
Ended with a selfie at the school before I walked awhile out to another area where the husband and children were eating their breakfast.
The son said he wanted to eat some Malaysian food for few these in conjunction with Independence Day. Maggi goreng was one of them beside our nasi lemak. Haha. Thank you for walking with me thus far. Although this was unusual walk, not the park or mall, but my son's school, thank you for reading.
