Last week I shared some photos I took on the beach just below the main beach in Amanzimtoti on a windy day.
I have some more photos of that day as the tide came in along with some rain.
For today though, I thought to first change the theme slightly to keep it more interesting and keep those for a little later.
This past Sunday, we decided to go down to the Protea Hotel on Karridene Beach, just south of Illovo Beach.
We love going there and on occasion, we have even decided to have lunch at the hotel and just spend the afternoon at leisure.
What we love about this beach, is the fact that it is a private beach for the hotel. It is never too crowded and there is always security staff on duty ensuring your safety on the beach.
To my knowledge, the hotel has a three-star rating. It offers many facilities and luxuries such as mini-golf, squash courts, 3 swimming pools, a fitness center and much more. Besides the hotel and its typical hotel accommodation, it also offers self-catering holiday apartments and an award-winning caravan park.
But that was not the purpose of our visit. We wanted to go to the beach.
What I always enjoy and find unique to this beach, is the walkway to get access to the beach from the hotel.
So let's start with the walk to the beach and I'll show you the hotel more towards the end.
First, you enter the walkway through a gate.
After entering through the gate, this is the view of the walkway to the beach.
Just taking a couple of paces forward, I focused more on the walkway in this photo.
Halfway down, I turned around and took this photo of the hotel.
Arriving at the bottom, you arrive on a beautiful deck looking out over the beach.
Standing on the same spot on the deck, just looking to the right, I saw this dune and thought it would make a nice photo.
As can be seen in the photo before the last one above, you can now gain access to the beach from the left side of this deck.
I took this photo, showing final access to the beach from the deck.
Returning from the beach, just before getting onto the deck, this is the view of the hotel.
In the next photo (taken from the deck), you can see the hotel again, but with the self-catering apartments standing separate from the hotel to the right of the walkway (looking up from the deck).
Still standing on the deck, I took this photo where you can see the rooftops of the self-catering apartments sticking out.
If fitness wasn't a priority for you before coming on holiday and you are exhausted from your activity on the beach and you find it a long way back to your accommodation, don't stress, there are 2 comfortable "resting spots" with nice benches along the way...lol!
As you get to the top and exit the walkway at the gate, you find the self-catering apartments on your righthand side.
Just a few more paces and you are at the parking lot with the hotel to the left.
Going to the lower level of the parking lot, I got this photo of the entrance to the hotel.
On our way out, just as you leave Amanzimtoti, you pass the golf course at the Amanzimtoti Golf Course with the Mbokodweni River running through it.
I couldn't resist pulling over to take this photo.
And that's it for this week, folks!
Thank you for reading my post. I do appreciate it!
